Need to update the administrative spaces for better work and filing.

I have been working at Eastern Florida State College (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This year a 3% raise went into effect.

    Cons

    Schedule irregularity, typical adjunct respect...

    Advice to Management

The majority of instructors are adjuncts - you should treat them better as they are actually the ones teaching the majority of classes with the greatest influence on students and greatest numbers within community.

I have been working at Eastern Florida State College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    1. Paid Holidays and Friday's off. 2. Rewarding experience to be with students 3. Employee Benefits: Medical, Retirement, etc. 4. Opportunity to earn additional money to your paycheck (through teaching, serving on certain committees, etc), as long as it does not conflict with the regular "8-5"

    Cons

    1. Hidden agenda; dishonest agenda 2. Poor organizational management/behavior. 3. Poor concern for employees of all levels. 4. Poor atmosphere to work in due to lack of concern for employees. 5. Unstable environment with annual transition of leadership; provides no time for acclamation to new and different expectations for employees to become acclimated towards their new supervisor. 6. Unwelcome to new ideas and change 7. Poor Recruitment Strategies (but is now in transition, hopefully on the right path) 8. The job "comes home" with you, mentally and physically 9 Organizational Chart is not properly organized; nor is the payscale.

    Advice to Management

Develop appropriate business intelligence to better the institution, the employees, and most importantly; the students. It will only assist towards the betterment of the institutions overall success. Show more care and concern to the employees and students, than ingenuity. An unhappy employee, will be an unhappy student... thus an unhappy President with enrollment being significantly down. When there is a problem, do not determine a solution by gathering information from ones who do not serve or are not involved directly in the situation... Once proper chain of command is met, suggest meeting directly with the individual to problem solve and determine a solution for the betterment of everyone.

I have been working at Eastern Florida State College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employees care for one-another and for the students. There is a calm easy-going atmosphere. Also, full-time employees work a four-day schedule. Overall, a great place to work for.

    Cons

Little pay and little room for growth, as with any Florida public institution: the college offers a safe refuge for those who are either temporarily out of suitable employment or those who are looking at retiring soon.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is great and always supportive

  7. Excellent organization, tremendous benefits, casual, relatively stress free environment.

    Pros

There were tremendous benefits, including 4 day work weeks and paid holidays on top of rollover. Most colleagues were professional, competent, and friendly.

    Cons

Great if it's your last stop on the career train for staff, but not if you are looking to grow. As is the case with most of Brevard County, compensation is below the norm. Otherwise, fantastic place to work.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for the amazing years.

I worked at Eastern Florida State College part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This company is fantastic about offering training for their employees and works hard to improve the quality of their programs

    Cons

The company doesn't offer many perks for their part time employees and seems to make efforts to keep part-timers at the part-time level. Advancement is hard.

I have been working at Eastern Florida State College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love helping students, the benefits are great, excellent amount of time off given.

    Cons

Not enough pay, communication between departments. The problem with working for the college is that advancement is quite political and the qualifications that are being required are above the pay grade the school is offering. EX: They now want advisers to have a Master's Degree and they only get paid $35,000 a year.

    Advice to Management

Communication between departments could be a lot better.
