I worked at Eastern Washington University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Casual schedule, works well for students in school. Great people to work with and opportunities for advancement within student jobs. Great school and atmosphere to grow up in.

    Cons

As with any state agency, it takes forever to get projects rolling and make progress. Lots of the same paper pushing and job delegation that never takes off. Hard for a progressive leader to take flight here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to cut the red tape as much as possible for student organizations.

I have been working at Eastern Washington University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Working at EWU has been a great career building experience. I've gotten to learn more on the job that I would have predicted.

    Cons

The political climate can be a showstopper on getting anything accomplished. Extremely slow at implementing anything and often frustrating.

I worked at Eastern Washington University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

EWU paid for me to get my Masters. The work environment was great and my boss was very understanding about my school work. I really felt that they wanted me to succeed in my degree and they helped in every way possible. Between the school paying for most of my tuition and paying me a salary, I was able to live comfortably renting an apartment in Cheney.

    Cons

There can be a lot of distractions. Between students stopping by and employees having non-work related conversations with you, a good pair of headphones can help keep you focused.
