    Cons

Purchasing department should pay more attention to MRP requirements dates, so we could produce and ship out to customers on time

    Pros

The work Is very high-tech see you get to use a lot of engineering background. With such a large high-tech company there are many opportunities to work with many experts in the field. The projects are very interesting. There's also any opportunities for training.

    Cons

The pay is a little low for the amount of responsibility that they expect you to take on. The stress level is pretty high.

    Advice to Management

Either the pay needs to go up or the level of responsibility should go down for the same pay.

    Pros

Steady employment in locations throughout the United States and Canada.
Good salary. Good training opportunities. Some growth potential due to the Cooper acquisition.

    Cons

Poor management and they feel they must hire from the outside to grow core competency.
This is discouraging for people within the company.

    Advice to Management

Take off the blinders. Go visit some of the sites you have purchased and evaluate the management you have in place. If they are not meeting the metrics put corrective action plans in place.

High-pace environment where there is a lot of talk of "improvement" but its a lot of lip-service.

    Pros

There is a strong need for dedicated people, with a tremendous amount of work in this plant; as management would call it "lots of opportunities," so there is very good job stability and low risk of losing your job over something petty. The pay is mediocre for engineers, but low compared to other recent graduates in engineering. There are schooling benefits and health care that are comparative to other large companies.

    Cons

The plant is stuck in a 1950's Union Member mentality. Its incredibly hard to make any positive changes to production. Its a low volume, high mix plant with a lot of turnover in engineering and manufacturing. Due to high turnover in salary employees, current salary employees are overworked and are burned out.

    Advice to Management

Do not accept work from customers that we aren't capable of completing and committing to unrealistic delivery dates! Don't push orders to the floor and wonder why there's problems with the order being scrapped when you haven't given middle management (engineers and supply chain) time to actually plan the work! So many problems could be avoided if your people weren't spread so thin. Do not play political games with your employees; be transparent with what the actual needs of the client are.

    Pros

Good job of promoting continuing education and training. As a huge company, there are lots of resources available for training. Pretty good interest in your future career path and goals.

    Cons

They are too lean in the wrong places. Every department is short-staffed and they usually take forever to replace people who leave. Development projects had too much focus on "the schedule" and not enough focus on improving the processes and/or products. Promotions are slow to come.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and promote from within. Too many people are hired into the company at senior positions without the same experience that some internal candidates have.

    Pros

GREAT controller, work environment was pleasant, not over bearing nor always underpressure.

    Cons

Lack of younger staff in entry level positions for finance/accounting. Some young engineers had peers.

    Advice to Management

Continue to value employees individually, monitor supervisors

    Pros

People are great to work with, lots of knowledge

    Cons

Mixed management means lack of full understanding, care to view other sides, can't stick to a decision, do not foster growth. Company does not care to retain employees - pay to train them and then they leave.

    Advice to Management

Retain your good employees, fair compensation, more work from home opportunities.
