I worked at Eaton Aerospace as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Exposure to a variety of issues and technologies. Ability to cross over industries, great growth and development program.

    Cons

In the aerospace sector it is generally not the most innovative work, can tend to be monotonous.

I have been working at Eaton Aerospace full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There is a strong need for dedicated people, with a tremendous amount of work in this plant; as management would call it "lots of opportunities," so there is very good job stability and low risk of losing your job over something petty. The pay is mediocre for engineers, but low compared to other recent graduates in engineering. There are schooling benefits and health care that are comparative to other large companies.

    Cons

The plant is stuck in a 1950's Union Member mentality. Its incredibly hard to make any positive changes to production. Its a low volume, high mix plant with a lot of turnover in engineering and manufacturing. Due to high turnover in salary employees, current salary employees are overworked and are burned out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not accept work from customers that we aren't capable of completing and committing to unrealistic delivery dates! Don't push orders to the floor and wonder why there's problems with the order being scrapped when you haven't given middle management (engineers and supply chain) time to actually plan the work! So many problems could be avoided if your people weren't spread so thin. Do not play political games with your employees; be transparent with what the actual needs of the client are.

    Pros

Good job of promoting continuing education and training. As a huge company, there are lots of resources available for training. Pretty good interest in your future career path and goals.

    Cons

They are too lean in the wrong places. Every department is short-staffed and they usually take forever to replace people who leave. Development projects had too much focus on "the schedule" and not enough focus on improving the processes and/or products. Promotions are slow to come.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people and promote from within. Too many people are hired into the company at senior positions without the same experience that some internal candidates have.

I have been working at Eaton Aerospace full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

People are great to work with, lots of knowledge

    Cons

Mixed management means lack of full understanding, care to view other sides, can't stick to a decision, do not foster growth. Company does not care to retain employees - pay to train them and then they leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retain your good employees, fair compensation, more work from home opportunities.

    Pros

Pay was good and the job was easy. I liked my main boss quite a bit. My job was interesting and was able to increase production in it.

    Cons

Layers and layers of management mean you often have a dozen bosses all with different agendas that push you in different directions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many bosses that are not on the same page are slowing down production.

Current Employee - Assembler and Tester in Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Eaton Aerospace full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

People that work there are good. Safety is over emphasized. Nice trail access along La River. Good Benefits

    Cons

Its up to the supervisor, to make it or break it. All they are concerned is their bonus, Low ball you on salary, then make false promises that you will get promoted. I am quite disappointed, I joint last year and it took 6 months before I realized that there is no future here except for the people that are favored. Very Bias, low morale. in a matter of 10 months that I was there 90 people have left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is out of touch with the people on the floor that is assemblers and testers. Supervisors are un educated with a dictatorial leadership, upper management has nothing better to do except for bank on peoples ideas and micromanage them. Eaton used to be a great place, but its a shame to see that the management is running it down to the drain and people are held hostage there feeling that they have no other opportunities, because of the abuse from supervisors.

I have been working at Eaton Aerospace full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This company can be a great place for young ambitious people. The company rewards those who are great at checking the boxes.

    Cons

Overall I'm dissatisfied with the lack of long term vision, and the preference for bringing in new blood as opposed to developing, and rewarding hard workers who have proven themselves. The company has an extraordinarily large population of middle managers.
