I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked for for Eaton for more than 10 years. Excellent long term company. Competitive compensation. Typical challenges of highly matrix organization. Outstanding commitment to ethics and ability to leverage a unified global business system.

    Cons

I have had a variety of positions in Eaton, mostly in supply chain. It can be difficult to transition between businesses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Additional investments in technology platforms could substantially increase the efficiency of the organization.

I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

work/life balance are optimal; office culture is generally positive and accepts varying perspectives, compensation is fair for marketplace.

    Cons

Minorities are preferred and promoted over non-minorities, especially when choosing between internal and external candidates. This is unfortunate when internal minority DOES NOT have the skillset for the position. But hey, it looks good on paper to have minorities in upper-level positions, even if it negatively affects the department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

fight to hire the right person, even if not minority.

I worked at Eaton as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    Everyone is very nice
    great facility
    Great internship program
    great pay

    Cons

Eaton focuses on getting as many people's consent as possible. Although this is good, it makes the company run slower than it needs to

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on upgrading technical and operations systems so that workers can do their job more efficiently. The company's compensation packages and pay are very generous. For the most part the company is very accommodating for the work life balance. Many people started their career and have been at the company for decades. My boss celebrated her 30 year anniversary. That goes to show Eaton really takes care of employees. I think there is a lot a room to move around, but I would say in a more lateral sense and it is a bit harder to move upward but possible.

    Cons

Management does not listen to employees.

I have been working at Eaton as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The company offers opportunities for advancement, and will promote from within. The company is always hiring and there are plenty of opportunities to move around within the company. Senior management is excellent and very helpful when needed.

    Cons

Much overtime required for this position, jobs being sent overseas to Pune, India, contractors are compensated poorly for the amount of work they are expected to complete.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider keeping more jobs in the US.

I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great medical dental and life insurance. Company values are a core at Eaton

    Cons

More focused on internal numbers than the customer. Those who perform you are asked to do more but if your a slug you get left alone.
If you speak out your days are numbered!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop pressing about profit and treat employees better. Peers are tired of hearing about answering to the stock holders, the cost to productivity is too high.

I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Eaton has a values-based culture and builds its reputation on doing business right. Our people are our greatest asset and it shows. You have to be at work at least 40-50 hours a week and it makes such a difference in your quality of life when you truly enjoy being around your coworkers. I have made some lifelong friendships and professional connections while being at Eaton, and those are invaluable for me. Everyone is really happy and enjoys what they do. We hire really great people!

    Cons

Compensation and benefits are slightly above market value, but you might be able to get a higher-paying job somewhere else. I think the benefits, work-life balance, values, opportunities for growth, and corporate culture is what keeps people here. Eaton has a traditional culture. It isn't a start-up tech company and doesn't have all the bells and whistles that might come with a trendy new company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to continue to maintain internal equity and reward accomplishments more frequently.

    Pros

Valuable training. People will have to deal with multi-tasks, which makes people grow very fast. Work-life balance is encouraging and excited for employees.

    Cons

Focus on policies and rules, which is a little too strict to some extent. Competitive and intense working condition.
