I worked at Eaton
Pros – Strong focus on financial performance
Cons – failing to invest in business, trust in leadership is at all time low in survey scores
Advice to Senior Management – You talk about the balance between shareholders, employees, and community. Time to walk the walk.

I have been working at Eaton full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Great coworkers, company brand, and tons of potential. Pension plan, company vehicle, and wellness programs were pretty good. Looks good on your resume. People really care for each other on teams as they tend to form small families within the Electrical division.
Cons – Company promotes itself as a great company to work for as the workers are great people. Management is totally disconnected from reality. Company has recently lost several engineers due to management's lack of understanding and their unwillingness to hire more people. Salaries are very low as workload forever increases. People would quit and not get replaced causing work would pile up. Customers have high expectations due to the Eaton brand and false reporting to shareholders. Don't worry...management pretends they have a grip on this and they are fully committed to making things right. People are complaining daily to HR about managers and their lack of leadership. Nothing has changed and people are very upset.
Advice to Senior Management – Wake up and smell the coffee! You have a great workforce begging for quality and swift leadership. The economic conditions have taken a toll on you and Eaton is not living up to it's potential. Compensation should be evaluated when it comes to salaries. If you don't want to hire more people, don't work them more and pay less. Company is begging for better leadership.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Eaton full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Defined prcoess ,Co operative people , culture , legacy products etc
Cons – Too much theoritical process as compared to the product or maturity of team. All spends time in doing no essentials and less time for project ,little focus for improvement on engineering
Advice to Senior Management – Cut down non essential activity on office floor-design/engg. Performance measurement should be more practical . Need to focus more on product not the process.

I worked at Eaton
Pros – Good entry point into electrical industry
Interesting challenges
Good peer atmosphere
Cons – Lack of leadership at senior levels
Sub-par support functions
Lack of interest in developing people
Advice to Senior Management – Eaton is a company with outdated practices and lack of investment in both development of people and support functions for engineering and marketing.
It is a good place to learn the business and gain industry and technical knowledge...but do not expect any sort of career progression if you do not get promoted within the first 2-3 years, it is not a meritocracy in any way, shape, or form.
It is part of the culture and acceptable as long as you determine what you want early on and have options.
Management should be aware, qualified engineers and marketers in some of the fields Eaton competes are scarce, especially if it takes years to learn the business and technical practices, but treat employees as expendable.

I worked at Eaton
Pros – Global, promoted furthering education and certifications.
Cons – Eaton has basically dwindled down the US salaried workforce to the point where it can simply just fill orders and no more. Day-to-day survival is all that matters, yet the expectations of a world class organization remain. Absolutely no chance of ever accomplishing your goals or getting a raise. Basically the definition of insanity for me. I joined Eaton in 2002, and today it has 1/3 the salaried workforce and double the sales! Of course, management never saw this same reduction--there are more far more cheifs than indians than when I started. Heck, I had 7 different people who thought I worked for them! I mean, by the time I left it litteraly felt like the opening scene from "Office Space."
Advice to Senior Management – Retire, resign, or simply sell off all the US assets and truly become global. It's beyond obvious the goal is to purchase US companies, and then ship the factories and jobs overseas. What was once a great place to work, is now just another place to park your career until something better comes along.

I worked at Eaton
Pros – Eaton is a forward thinking company with many electrical products and services providing environmentally friendly solutions. Eaton's involvement in developing an electric vehicle charging product lines is one example of how the company is focused on the environment and the reduction of Green House Gases. Eaton also provided a comprehensive
Cons – There was no management involvement in the training, development and explanation of job specifications, of new employees. The lack of top down communication places new and tenured employees at a disadvantage and often results in employees having no direction and no development.
Advice to Senior Management – Conducting business in an ethical business is very important in today's corporate environment. Eaton maintains a high standard of ethics externally, but lacks ethics when dealing with employees. .

I have been working at Eaton
Pros – well it's a job and it does pay the bill's and you can refuse to make it if you think it's wrong untill someone in supervision signs off on it .
Cons – in the plant i work , they prove everyday the good ol' boy system is a live and well, if you drink beer and play golf with the boss you don't have to work to keep your job but if you just want to do the job and go home to your wife and kids and skip all the bull ! then maybe they don't need that , i have seen a lot good workers fired because they made a simple mistake and others do the same thing and O well it will be o:k we will just tell them you did not know it was wrong to do it !! so all in all it sux!!!
Advice to Senior Management – when you hire them ... make sure they know how to do the job ! and tell them to DO THE JOB FAIR ! not because they are good ol' boys ! i think if Alexander Cutler knew what was really happening in this plant , you may need a job !!!
