Pros
Benefits are very good.
Good work/life balance.
Cons
Pay is less than other companies in the industry.
Promotions do not seem to be based on merit.
Positions are "filled" before they become available.
The morale in our office is TERRIBLE!
Politics, Politics, Politics!
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people based on merit. Communicate clearly rather than leaving employees in the dark.
Pros
* Professional development through training and development and a solid performance managmeent system
* Opportunity for career advancement
*Emphasis on quality
Cons
* Workload heavy at times
* Information sharing across divisions could be improved
Overall, I had a great experience with Eaton and it is difficult to list cons.
Advice to Senior Management
Continuing doing what you have been. Continue to focus on EBS and progress with quality and lean. Great place to work!
Pros
Company makes an honest effort to take employee feedback into consideration when rolling out new initiatives. Managers care about their reports.
Cons
Sometimes the simplest changes take a very long time to implement within the matrix structure. The need to drive standards over time does not always address current needs.
Advice to Senior Management
Strategy is well articulated but it is not always clear how current actions will address the strategy in the near-term.
Pros
Good pay and benefits for the area. Most of the actual workers are good people trying to do "The Right Thing" but are reluctant to do so when they know their jobs (and the ability to support their family) are on the line.
Cons
If you like Back Porch Politics and behind the scenes Handshaking, this is the place for you. If you like working for 8 to 12 hours a day in a concentration camp-sweatshop environment, please submit your resume'. If you can get along with a Plant Manager that implemented and promotes a fear culture, you belong on our "team".
If you have a sense of Integrity and Honor.... If you raise the flag when something isn't right..... If you question the status quo.... Eaton Sarasota IS NOT the place for you.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit wearing blinders. Don't just look at the Metrix and think that all is well. Look at HOW those results were achieved. Fair treatment across the board. If it is ok for salaried personnel then it is ok for everyone. If the average worker has to comply so should the people who work on the carpet. Make the Plant Manager and his Staff not only "Talk It" but "Walk It". If they won't then toss them.
Pros
Great team members
Local Management tries hard.
Cons
Local Management has no salary raise authority nor can they promote.
No clear career path for outside sales in the Electrical Group
If you stay in one job too long you will get overlooked for future advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
Need less management and more workers
How about no new Corporate Office complex until you give your workers a decent raise. We loose 3 weeks salary in 2009 and Sandy takes a huge raise !
Pros
Many locations through out the US and world ranging from small towns to large cities.
Very strong eithics - one strike and you're out
Good blend of talent from straight out of college to seasoned employees
Cons
Secrecy in some job opportunities, sometimes it seems like who you know to get a job and that when interviewing, you know you are just getting a courtesy interview. Some jobs post, others just seem to get filled.
Lack of continuity in pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Be consistent.
Pros
Diversified Industrial. Many opportunities for advancement and growth. Great people.
Cons
Corp policies and procedures and IT systems slow down progress.
Advice to Senior Management
Please help get IT systems on track for engineering.
Pros
Global company; sound financials; diversified products
Cons
Everything's being moved off-shore: production, engineering, management, hr
Advice to Senior Management
Mid-level executives at segment and group levels lack knowledge and insight on core business success factors and core competancies.
Pros
1. Good business people
2. Lots of opportunity to learn
3. Talented peers
4. Decent pay and stock options
5. Very valued experience by other employers
6. Stuck to what good at
7. Good processes
Cons
1. OCA (career planning) shrowded in secrecy
2. Sometimes process for process sake
3. Great at execution and operations, but not entrepreneurial or particularly strategic
4. Conservative in many regards
The pros outweigh the cons, however.
Advice to Senior Management
Be a little more agressive on business opportunities, and don't grow purely through acquisition.
Pros
Eaton Corp is a fantastic place to work. Great benefits, great people, great leadership.
Cons
The industry isnt' the most exciting, but other than that, none
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing
