My experience was pleasant yet professional in a business which creates a great place to work!

Payroll Specialist (Former Employee)
Raleigh, NC

I worked at Eaton as a contractor for less than a year

ProsGreat people, great benefits, and great opportunities for growth and development.

ConsMust be willing to work hard so there is little flexibility in some areas. Very hard to get consideration for employment.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive serious consideration to contract workers who apply for vacant positions. They can be of great value and be cost effective in regards to recruiting and acquisition.

A small wheel in a big machine.

Product Marketing Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Eaton full-time for more than 10 years

ProsOn a principle level policies and practices are very good. Tries to do the right things. Job safety is pretty good, the company does not let people go just to boost share price.

ConsAs bureaucratic as big companies are. A lot of overhead and unnecessary management. Heavily political at times, mediocre people advance by babbling buzzwords in right places and making promises they can't keep.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe organization tries to be lean but fails when it comes to management practices. Try to find out how things really work, bearing in mind that your reports will not report that.

Old Boys Club

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Eaton full-time for more than 3 years

ProsReasonable benefits, work life balance depending on team, reasonable compensation

ConsEmpty promotion promises, high turnover, terrible attitude, leaders do not seem to take women seriously and ignorantly/unmaliciously make chauvinistic remarks

Advice to Senior ManagementTake women seriously and allow them to shatter that glass ceiling. Do not hire women as senior leaders externally - hire them internally to give them the sense that you value them as not only employees, but people.

Misleading

Assembly Technician (Current Employee)
Greenwood, SC

I have been working at Eaton full-time for more than 8 years

ProsSteady Work, Great Fellow Workers

ConsManagement does'nt listen to employees.
Alot of favortism and "Good ole Boy" practices.
Plant Manager is only seen once a month along with HR Manager.
HR is one sided
Unrealistic forecasts which makes for alot of over time 10hrs a day 6-7 days a week for months.
Promotions are based on who you know or if you belong to a clique.
Ethics and Policies are only enforced when it benefits Management Not Employees.
No room for advancement.
Employees thoughts, ideas and complaints are ignored as if they don't know anything.
People who are placed in Management, Lead, Quality positions have no idea about the product.
Employee appraisals are unfair.
Management evaluations are designed to make them look good.
Management does'nt care about employees or family life.
Upper Management are the only ones rewarded for a good job or meeting a set goal.
All of Management from Plant Manager down needs to be replaced.
Everything that the employees enjoy about this plant is taken away.
Pay increases are not fair.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake advice from employees who are doing the work, working all the overtime. And putting up with all of the nonsense.

I worked at Eaton full-time

ProsGood people to work with

ConsMore emphasis on the bottom line rather that their employees - most employees have too much work and are not appreciated for the great work they do.

Advice to Senior ManagementCompany not employee oriented or focused - Hire more People oriented managers - mine was the worst - didn't know our job and was not a people person
