    Pros

Good Benefits and pay are what the company does best. I worked there for 16 years until the plant I worked at shut down.

    Cons

To much favoritism. The higher ups liked to hire their friends for better positions instead of who was most qualified. That was the way it was at my plant. Don't know about the other ones.

    Pros

Eaton is very supportive of giving you the freedom to explore new ideas and better ways to do things. They are supportive of the decisions you make if you have the justification to make them.

    Cons

I am very questionable of the decision making of the senior leadership. Even if the decisions are wrong, they are quick to lay people off that have no control over what happens. Overall compensation seems low for the value brought.

    Advice to Management

Asking people to work harder to increase sales and cut costs isn't going to get people to work harder. A little incentive would go a long way to giving people the motivation required to perform even more above and beyond the expectations already given.

    Pros

great job to have while i am in school full time. my supervisor is laid back and they work around my school schedule with no problem. I have learned a lot being here since this is my first time working in manufacturing

    Cons

hydraulic pump plant means hydraulic fluid almost everywhere, air/heat in the lab i work in tends to disfucntion a lot, leading to sub-par working conditions

    Advice to Management

compensation could be increased as well as offering temporary employees some kind of insurance/benefits

    Pros

Great company culture with an ethical focus. Able to maintain a good work-life balance and move up the company if you desire.

    Cons

Extremely technical work environment which can be a negative if you're not technically inclined. Great starting salary but low bonuses. Two rounds of layoffs in the past four years.

    Pros

You can grow immensely within the company if you know the right people. You learn a ton because you get a lot of responsibility and you're never idle. Safety is a very high priority and no matter what, that will not be compromised.

    Cons

Very little authority as compared to responsibility. Managers dictate everything and for an engineer to think out of the box isn't appreciated much. Capital investment is very little by the corporate but they expect all the issues to be solved on the floor. Seems like that's the culture in most corporations nowadays.

  10. Steady decline. Started out good. After a few years, couldn't get out of there fast enough!

    Pros

The compensation was good. Stable corporation because of diversification (not necessarily a stable division).

    Cons

Serious culture problems here. Unrealistic expectations and when things don't go according to the unrealistic expectations, lot's of blame, accusations, and even threats about job security. There is one guy who runs the show here and he is absolutely ridiculous. Countless number of great engineers have left the company because of this guy but he gets promoted. Lot's of offshore engineering. US engineers are reduced to Power Points and trying to stay involved in a project that is happening somewhere else. This division wants to do software and electronics but is being led by management with a hydraulics/mechanical background. They have no realistic idea what it takes to develop reliable software and electronics.

    Advice to Management

Management has an unrealistic expectation of what it takes to develop complicated products and systems involving software and electronics and hydraulics. They want to have the products in their portfolio because they are high margin products, however, they are unwilling to properly invest in the development of them. New projects must meet an unrealistic goal for return on investment to get approved. Management will fudge the data to get the right IIR number for a project they know they have to do but that means they won't hire the expertise and number of people that it takes to do it. Need a new engineering director that doesn't chase the good talent away.
