I have been working at Eaton Hydraulics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is decent. The management tries their best to move in a forward direction. The benefits are decent.

    Cons

The management focuses more on where they are going in a few years rather than what happens to the plant they are currently at.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to stay for longer than a few years to accomplish the plans they set in place.

I worked at Eaton Hydraulics as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Smart old school workforce with integrity willing to help and supply information when needed.

    Cons

To get promoted you need to be willing to relocate outside of the current location on the average of every three years. This makes the work force fell there is little long term support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to demonstrate team work. Lead by example.

I have been working at Eaton Hydraulics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Average compensation. Fair compensation systems
If you are good at and like corporate politics you can have a long and prosperous career at Hydarulics.
A huge corporation that encourages people to move to new roles within a division or across divisions.
Some good processes that are part of the Eaton Business System.
Some really great people in the trenches.

    Cons

    Politics, politics, politics
Division continually falling short of financial expectations resulting in continual cost-cuttting and restructuring
Not much progressive thinking at the executive management level. Stuck in the past.
Way too much time spent in unnecessary meetings. Many lack focus, are redundant, or do not have clear goals.
Lack of a clear vision on how to grow the business.
    Lost sight of work/life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Live and demonstrate the Eaton Vision
Stop recycling underperforming executives into new roles.
Keep executives in roles long enough to have an impact. Two to three years is too short.
Continual restructuring will result in losing your most talented people. Fix the core issues that plague Hydraulics. Can't cut your way to success.

I have been working at Eaton Hydraulics full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Free coffee and hot cocoa all day long, not too fast paced because quality is more important, coworkers are fun, decent pay.

    Cons

Can't have a life and work there, way too much overtime, it feels like nobody really listens to employees even though they say they do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lie to interviewees about the level of overtime or claim it's voluntary when it really isn't. Ethics seems to be a surface priority, not to an actual priority. Treat everyone the same, esp when people bid on internal jobs.
