I worked at Eaton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work environment, excellent pay and benefits.

    Cons

Very political, it's who you know and "not" how much you do. Oh, did you work at GE .... Then You're part of the good ole boy club. Marketing holds the power to fire, never say "no" or "disagree" or you will suddenly be offered an "or else" transfer to Siberia. Product engineering and operations will not stand behind you if you go against marketing by trying to enforce their own company policy.
If you have an opinion you better keep it to yourself and if you're over 50 your too old to be trainable and you'll be lucky if you make it more than 3 years.
Be careful with relocation, they may cry recession and change the reimbursement rules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper engineering and operations management needs to stand up to marketing and get behind their people rather than cower down. Over 50 should never disqualify a qualified candidate.

I have been working at Eaton

    Pros

Stable company to work for with great benefits including paid gym. Eaton University is a good place to learn new abilities. I am very proud to be part of Eaton.

    Cons

Not good at paying for the risks you face at work. Does little to recognize your extra efforts. It is as political as any other company. Not much latest research on Electrical Side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put more money behind projects on Electrical side and make the leadership try out new ways of doing things (everyway).

I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Offers a competitive pay, benefits are okay. Great leaders at the top levels (General Managers, Human Resources, etc.) and a company that you can be proud to work with. Eaton University is a good place to learn new abilities. Solid philosophies of safety and ethics, E-Star system has a lot of potential. I am very proud to be part of Eaton.

    Cons

Not good at paying for the risks you face at work. Does little to recognize your extra efforts, should use the E-Star system more often. Very political(As in political favors and favoritism) at the lower levels of leadership(Managers, supervisors and coordinators).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Urgently needs to take a look at how business is handled at the lower levels of leadership. A lot of unfair things go on. Needs to do a better job of choosing the right people for those positions. Evaluation system totally flawed, also needs re-evaluation.
