I worked at Eaton as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

If the job is busy lots of OT and DT hours, good co-workers, challenging enough to always be learning.

    Cons

Lots of OT hours if you are working on a busy project, maybe too many for some people but I enjoyed it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The computer login system to access Eaton training materials was a bit too complicated and could use some improvement.

I worked at Eaton as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The company's values at up there with the best. They truly care about their employees and each level of management is very approachable. I was compensated well for the work I was performing. Very professional business environment. Employees are kept up to date with monthly news letters from upper management and local management holds frequent meetings to make sure everyone is up to speed on the day to day operations and planning.

    Cons

It was hard to get used to the personalities of some of the engineers at first, but once I was settled in they were extremely helpful and patient whenever I had a question that needed answering.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to hire interns like me and help them to become great engineers.

    Pros

This company is willing to look at workers who are older and give them the opportunity to do a job.

    Cons

I really can't think of any at this moment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep giving opportunity to those who have been in the workforce for years.

    Pros

Valuable training. People will have to deal with multi-tasks, which makes people grow very fast. Work-life balance is encouraging and excited for employees.

    Cons

Focus on policies and rules, which is a little too strict to some extent. Competitive and intense working condition.

I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Eaton has a values-based culture and builds its reputation on doing business right. Our people are our greatest asset and it shows. You have to be at work at least 40-50 hours a week and it makes such a difference in your quality of life when you truly enjoy being around your coworkers. I have made some lifelong friendships and professional connections while being at Eaton, and those are invaluable for me. Everyone is really happy and enjoys what they do. We hire really great people!

    Cons

Compensation and benefits are slightly above market value, but you might be able to get a higher-paying job somewhere else. I think the benefits, work-life balance, values, opportunities for growth, and corporate culture is what keeps people here. Eaton has a traditional culture. It isn't a start-up tech company and doesn't have all the bells and whistles that might come with a trendy new company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to continue to maintain internal equity and reward accomplishments more frequently.

I worked at Eaton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Senior leadership was top notch. I was treated fairly and always felt like a valuable team contributor. I was offered an opportunity to move to Michigan, but felt that was not a good move for me.

    Cons

Some staff were not held as accountable as others.

I worked at Eaton as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I enjoyed getting to interact with the employees while also performing the business duties required for my job.

    Cons

I did not have any cons--I had to learn where to draw the line of being professional versus being someones friend which came with time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe that one of the most important traits for a manager to have is communication. I believe being open and allowing your employees to come to you if need be makes for a great manager. I also feel as though with communication, everyone is on the same page and there is not as much general talk or gossip.
