I worked at Eby-Brown as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

The executive staff and management recognizes good talent and will give you work that actually is pertinent to the company. You can ask them questions to teach you something and they will. All staff is nice and easygoing.

    Cons

Would only recommend working here if you have a degree in what you are doing so you can get fair compensation.

I have been working at Eby-Brown full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I worked in the corporate office but did travel to the DC’s every so often. I really liked most of the people I worked with. They had a standard benefits package, good family flexibility time, ability to work on many different projects.

    Cons

It’s an overrun frat house (literally). Advancement is hard to come by unless your part of the fraternity. For 100 year old company there’s no culture, no company mission, and no company updates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to make the place better start by making decisions and company goals known to your employees. Get out of the 90’s and drive some sort of company culture. Start an open door policy!

Take a hard look at your Senior Leaders. Promotions should deserved not given away because of who you know.

I worked at Eby-Brown full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Quick hire process. They will hire anyone. 401 k health benefits after 90 days.

    Cons

Long hours very monotonous work . Pay is very low for the amount of work you have to do every day. Not a single smile in the place no one is happy to be there. Since they hire anyone you work with some real "quality" human beings . honestly some of the most unhappy people I have ever worked with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay a fair wage for the amount of work you asked for. The bleak attitude and poor pay is your number one reason for such a massive turn around in your workforce.

I worked at Eby-Brown full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    They hire anyone. ANYONE.

    Cons

Promotions are not given on merit. They are given based on who you are friends with outside the office/corporate. Human resource manager unprofessional, under educated and petty/vindictive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise your pay scale and hire some educated/experienced people. Disband the boys club.

I worked at Eby-Brown full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Weekly pay, benefits, not too difficult to change shifts if needed. Lot of freebies (candy, snacks, travel mugs) from management handed out to staff on holidays and when cases are too damaged to ship. Enough hours the vast majority of the time. The lack of professional behavior (gossip, fights) and blind eye or indulgent behavior in management can be a welcome distraction from the monotony of the job. Health and safety training is thorough for what average workers are expected to do.

    Cons

Most employees including management only have the faintest grasp understanding technology. There is very little little credit given to the couple of maintenance workers who literally keep the merge running some days. Most equipment is out of date verging on out of code. OSHA guidelines are held up to the light or stomped on depending on the day and manager. The lack of professional language and dress on the floor extends to pickers bragging about their workplace affairs, picking fights, and showing up intoxicated. Many of the "better" workers are only there because they have too many felonies to be hired elsewhere. Favoritism is key to advancement. Almost too easy to become a forklift operator and have had a couple accidents and a few close calls.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider minor incentive bonuses for accuracy, offering standardized hours, and investing in upgrading warehouse equipment. More than one tech support person in the building would be incredibly useful as well.

    I worked at Eby-Brown

    Pros

it was a job and a paycheck.

    Cons

The floor managers always took the big loads and there picks for the night where done first so they'd bs around while everyone else was picking the small picks.
I was always getting sick there was so many germs and it was dusty.
the employees could be cool but there was always DRAMA!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop sitting down and pay attention to the lines, and make some box's

    I worked at Eby-Brown full-time

    Pros

Great if you can get in the "boys club" and don't want to work 40 hours

    Cons

Not valued or treated like a person. Can only get advancement if you are part of the "boys club". Corporate employees given the same crappy benefits and perks as warehouse workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some new management that knows how to treat people and cares about them and their career goals. Take a look at the perks and benefits other corporate offices give their employees.

I have been working at Eby-Brown full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lots of work and little down time. You are always busy and no lay offs. Good hours and OK pay. There are many managers that moved up trough the ranks.

    Cons

    To some co-workers, it's "just a job".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to be more visable on the floor and get to know more employees.
