Pros
The benefits are good, the heath insurance and this is the first job I've had that has had a retirment fund 401.
Cons
The pay scale needs inprovement after 13 years of service doing a job I love. I currently recieve only $ 3.00 more an hour then my starting wages.
Advice to Senior Management
managers and supervisers need to be more aware of the way other employees are treating thier co-workers. They must stop co-workers from cutting down and making false statements , an example would be that - someone telling other workers that a person is not doing thier job. The supervisers need to make sure that there is no bulling done in the work place. When this behavior is brought to their attention they must take action and not look the other way.
Pros
Salary is decent
Location is good
401 is good
Cons
IT Department is a nightmare: penny-pinching, unqualified senior management, verbal abuse of employees, understaffed. IT is looked at as an expense to be minimized. Most poisonous environment imaginable, where managers and employees point fingers at others rather than do the job they were hired to do. Healthcare is crap.
Advice to Senior Management
You better improve the environment, promote competent employees, and strengthen your knowledge of IT practices. The economy is getting better, and your department will be empty soon.
Pros
Recession proof. People will always buy candy bars and cigarettes. If you like to ride around all day and not have the boss keeping watch, you may like this job. Just don't ask for help.
Cons
Lack of product to sell. No apparent concern for needs of staff. It seems as the answer is never available when needed and often never given to problems or questions that arise
Advice to Senior Management
Listen and ask for employee feedback. Don't do this as a way to appease, but use it as a tool to improve the conditions of employeement.
Pros
Family oriented atmosphere. Relaxed and fair. Was always in the loop as far as decisions being made. My opinion counted.
Cons
Was behind other similar companies in terms of compensation packages. Could have used better equipment. Could also have used a little more help.
Advice to Senior Management
Do more studies and look at what other companies are doing in terms of compensation, benefits and equipment that would be needed to complete job.
Pros
Lost of hours = fat checks
actual work is easy depending on department
Paid weekly
Cons
No set time off each night
you WILL work 14 hr. shifts back to back
if they don't reach their goal, they will make you work friday, only giving you one day off
Pros
I work in the stamping dept. and have the best managers I have ever worked for. I have been at eby-brown now for 11 almost 12 years, and can't think of any place I would rather work.
Cons
The area I work in is under constant survaliance, we have to be buzzed in and out of the area. New to us that have been there awhile. Kind of makes me feel like Im being accused.
Advice to Senior Management
keep up the good work stamping managers, your doing a great job. Makes it nice to go to work, and not hate being there.
Pros
The only other job I loved more than here was the military. Eby IS a true family business...they have made me feel part of a family ..and even tho they employ alot of people the management takes the time to know each person...
Cons
if you dont like working nights...that can be an issue...I like nights.....
Advice to Senior Management
I would like to meet the CEO's some time...maybe they could do a meet and greet at the distribution centers?
Pros
Communication, understanding, professionalism, steady work, rewarding, 4 day work week (drivers)
Cons
weather, heat, rain, cold, traffic (drivers), money could be better but is average with similar companies
Advice to Senior Management
Raises in income
Pros
-Family owned so decisions are made quicker.
-Casual Fridays.
-Everyone knows everyone else.
-Benefits are ok
-Co-workers are nice and friendly
Cons
-They believe in internal promotions rather than hiring seasoned professionals.
-IT Manager's insecurities manifest themselves through poor treatment of employees and constant fire drills.
-Poor IT security practices. No policies in place. Corporate website is poor.
Advice to Senior Management
Get with the times. Expand the facilities. Hire competent managers if you want to compete in your business line.
