    Pros

    Great environment and I think that the small incentives are a good way to reward hard work. I may be a little more optimistic than others but I enjoy a majority of the work I do here at Echo, once commission gets closer it seems it may be paying off. If you can motivate yourself I believe this would be a great place for you to start.

    Cons

    Commission seems harder to get to that first told. Also cold calling isn't fun, but if you are going into a sales job chances are you are going to cold call. You just have to make the best of it and know if you work hard it will pay off. Doesn't seem like there is room to grow your career unless it is in sales.

    Advice to Management

    More consistency on following up with tasks would be appreciated.

    Pros

    Fun work culture, great training program, beer Fridays, beautiful office.

    Cons

    Low starting pay for an individual that has prior logistics experience. Although training program was a great introduction to logistics, as an account executive, you manage customer accounts that vary from account to account. Every account has different requirements and there was no formal training for this. Was kind of thrown into these accounts and will only learn through trial and error. Not being able to take a full hour break and even frowned upon most times when taking a 30 minute break. My account especially requires immediate attention and I can't even take a break without eating lunch at my desk.

    Advice to Management

    Keep your accounts organized, provide a formal SOP for each account for new Account Executives to understand the needs of each account. Some accounts require a lot more attention than others and the account executive responsible for these needy accounts need additional executives that can assist for breaks to be legally taken. Bonuses should be strictly on the individual's performance because there is NO teamwork as you say. You may think the structure is organized and team oriented, however, if you pay more attention you will notice different PODs hanging around while others are struggling. Promote your account executives rather than hiring new operations managers. Eliminate 3rd party when necessary. We are already a 3rd party provider which already makes it difficult for Carriers and Customers. Account Executives are depended on Carrier Sales and other Echo teams to provide rates and costs for shipment which makes it even more difficult. EDI doesn't always go through and requires manual scheduling and calling a lot of times. Need to improve the system or hire better Operations Specialists that can provide track, trace and SCHEDULING.

    Pros

    Lots of young people (if you like that), decent location, company provides outside activities like softball, choir, flag football, etc.

    Cons

    Sales side is difficult, long hours for carrier reps, not much guidance or help because it's competitive.

    Make training shorter

    Pros

    If you're motivated in the sales arena and good at developing relationships with customers so they become loyal to you then you can be successful. Good first job, other reviews say that high commission earners are "statistical outliers" but you do have to put in the time to break through the salary. I would say the outliers are people that are there 5+ years. Good location

    Cons

    Echo has a reputation for cutting the legs out from under people as they're about to receive large accounts that they will have to pay commission out on. Very political and "good ole boy" type of environment, you notice that Nepotism is a word frequently used in reviews. End of the week required events include alcohol which play to entry level sales, recent grads. Promotions seem to be more based on time at the company or favoritism then qualifications or leadership skills.

    Advice to Management

    Keep environment more professional. Core values are a joke. Team leaders should be more vetted for leadership skills as a leader can really determine the success of the team.

    Pros

    Unlimited ability to make the amount of money you desire. You determine your success, plus a little luck. Pretty relaxed environment. Good Mentor.

    They play the numbers game with new college graduates. "Survival of the fittest" mentality. Do not really care about entry level employees

    Take some more time in new level employees and provide more of a salary than 12.50 per hr.

    Pros

    Chicago headquarters is in a good location, easily accessible

    Cons

    Not a friendly working environment or culture for women. Lot's of post work week required meetings with alcohol involved.
