Raise the wages for employees, especially ones that have to learn a technical skill within the company.

I have been working at Ecova full-time

    Pros

Ecova has a true vision for the future - looking forward not only how to be a better business partner to its clients, but also how to be a better corporate citizen. The executives readily engage the employees to be a part of developing that vision. It's an exciting time.

    Cons

As with any changing time in an organization, there are a lot of moving parts and much work to keep the culture aligned with the vision.

I have been working at Ecova full-time

    Pros

Ecova is very invested in seeing it's employees succeed. Recently rolled out a new training program that all employees have access to. You can choose different paths and go through a series of videos and activities that help you excel on the topic. Having a volunteer day is one of my favorite things. This company encourages people to give back to our environment. The office offers recycling and composting as option when throwing your trash away. Very environmentally friendly! Definitely lives out it's mission.

    Cons

Bonus seems to be wish-washy, but it's the first year for this new program. Interested to see how it turns out.

    Pros

If you like a lot of down time at work, this is the place to be! While there are multiple different programs, the one I work on is slow. I find myself bored which can be a pro or con depending who you are. The office is beautiful, top of the line, newly designed.

    Cons

If you like a lot of down time at work, this is the place to be! While there are multiple different programs, the one I work on is slow. I find myself bored which can be a pro or con depending who you are. Not much opportunity for challenge. The annual merit raises were just taken away and the bonus program was restricted to salary employees only.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what your employees are doing. There is a huge disconnect between upper management and the employees.

    Pros

Sincere, dedicated software team; challenging work; very supportive of each other; no backstabbing; good camaraderie. It was a fine place in terms of the work and the people.

    Cons

Upper management typically in disarray; failed to keep concrete promises; lots of mixed messages; not very cohesive between the workers and the managers.

I have been working at Ecova full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Good company vision/mission - Good benefits, love the Community Service programs - Good potential for growth if you're patient - Very intelligent people - Culture is starting to shift to good work/life balance, but you have to own it

    Cons

    - Pay level low, especially in Spokane - Sometimes various departments don't work together and can cause "us/them" mentality - Sometimes execs/management can get distracted from big picture and get into weeds unnecessarily

    Advice to Management

Remember to empower your people and foster a strong team environment. Some areas of the company do really well with this, others can learn from their model. Continue to invest in your people, they are your best asset.
