Advice to Senior Management
Senior Management is amazing!!!
Pros
Very creative and inspiring co-workers, supportive management, excellent reputation
Cons
Maybe a smaller agency might be better for some people, but not me.
Advice to Senior Management
Disappointed in the very low percentage raise offered at annual performance review
Pros
Edelman is an independent company with strong executive leadership that makes smart investments in its people and resources. They promote from within and work to provide employees with tools to be successful.
Cons
Despite an effort to encourage collaboration across offices and geographies, it still can be a challenge for offices to "share" opportunities.
Pros
Great people, highest quality thinking & ethical standards, supportive culture where you can grow and shape your career. If you're entrepreneurial, smart and passionate about PR, there's no reason to work at another agency. The sky's the limit here.
Cons
Geographic and practice silos can present barriers to collaboration, although that's changing.
Pros
Independent, family-run company
Opportunity to do what you want and chart your own course
Flexibility around time off for family and health issues
Loyalty to long-time employees
Marquee clients and very smart employees
Cons
Persistent compensation issue at all levels that is detrimental to existing and future staff
Internal politics that make it difficult to achieve client goals at times
Retention of problem employees despite volumes of evidence, perhaps a consequence of above-referenced loyalty
Advice to Senior Management
Please address the compensation issue, don't just keep saying there's an issue and take no decisive action. It's difficult for us as managers and employees.
Pros
Edelman values corporate social responsibility - they preach it to clients but they also practice it. It's a great place to learn and you are surrounded by extremely talented colleagues who are collaborative, media savvy, and push you to be your best.
Cons
The hours can be long and unpredictable.
Advice to Senior Management
We need the latest technology tools to do our job better.
Pros
Innovation, strong culture, underdog mentality
Cons
Global integration of tools and skills needs work
Advice to Senior Management
Spend more time with global offices
Pros
Smart people; interesting work that is always changing/never the same routine; good benefits; fun culture
Cons
Difficult clients; multi-tasking different projects; constantly seeking new business
Pros
Edelman puts a huge emphasis on helping employees stay engaged on client projects and opportunities to further your growth in your field. They offer excellent learning opportunities and put a big emphasis on learning about public relations/media/digital services and new services available to help you offer more to clients.
Cons
Edelman is pretty rigid in the way that they structure their promotions/entry-level opportunities. Even if you are really well received in your office- promotions and available jobs all depend on the client load that the office has.
Pros
Strategic leadership, family values, belief in a good work product and investment in the business (including employees)
Cons
Some practice and specialty overlap contributes to internal competition or confusion.
Advice to Senior Management
Please keep doing what you are doing!
