    Pros

The combination of global reputation, high profile clients, consistent growth, and talent development (and all this as an independently-owned firm) is simply unbeatable!

    Cons

Junior level employees may have to be particularly proactive about receiving feedback on their work. Compensation is standard for similar agencies, but is relatively low for an entry-level college grad.

    Pros

Management and staff absolutely focus on clients and their goals.Walking the floors, each practice is always abuzz with some new idea or project in motion. Management does foster teamwork, leadership, and meeting goals.

    Cons

High turnover lately in IT staff, and high unexplained turnover in IT management, which in turn has created more staff turnover. Projects have slowed or stalled as a result. Luckily, this has not yet affected clients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management does a great job of communicating down through the PR practices. How about communicating down through the IT teams?

Best Job I've Ever Had With The Industry's Smartest People

I have been working at Edelman full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

*Entreprenuerial culture allows independent thinkers to thrive
*Stragetic risk-taking is rewarded and supported
*You will never be the smartest person in the room. Trust me, I was at many other big agencies
*Encourages you to build a personal brand and will generally give you the tools you need to get the job done

    Cons

*If you like to focus on mentoring junior staff, you are often in the minority of your peers
*Career planning/coaching for senior team members is limited at best
*There are office poliitics. It's an office - get used to it -- but it can be very discouraging
*They encourage you to recruit new employees and then it's a nightmare

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The inventory goes down the elevator every night. Make sure to coach, mentor and appreciate team members at every level.

I have been working at Edelman full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great collection of talent in both senior ranks and junior ranks.
No ideas are bad ideas; very open environment to speak your mind and let your voice be heard.
If egos are present, they are not out in the open; people work together to get the job done as a team.
The company consistently attracts, retains and wins big name clients.

    Cons

The hours can be long at times, especially for the compensation.
Sometimes things can feel a bit corporate, as people get tied to their desks and their personal work.
Creativity and improvisation are always welcome for discussion, but are often not actualized due to strict adherence to previously client-approved plans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to be open and honest about the direction of the company.
Place more attention towards Edelman's personal brand: more dollars towards company website, corporate innovation and building a creative, dynamic company culture.

    Room for growth
    Generally recognized for hard work

I have been working at Edelman full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Unbelievably bright co-workers, interesting client work, and true entrepreneurial spirit. If you're willing to work hard, Edelman will work with you. But you gotta work HARD.

    Cons

Office politics abound, and once you're typecast it's really difficult to get beyond that. Salaries are ok, but not great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay to retain talent upfront, not when they threaten to leave.

    Pros

Many great things about Edelman: working with the best in the industry, mentorship programs, tuition reimbursement, company culture that consists of 2 company outings a year as well as monthly happy hours, and much more!

    Cons

Not necessarily a con, but this is a fast paced work environment! Be ready to be incredibly organized and an Outlook calendar pro!

    Pros

Edelman is great because it has a large global network, is family owned, is an independent company, full of friendly people, and there are many opportunities to network and meet new people.

    Cons

There are obvious cons that are common across all agencies, such as work-life balance and lower compensation.
