Nice place to work

Consultant (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Edgewater Technology full-time for more than a year

Pros- You are given a lot of freedom on how to engage on projects
- The compensation is fine. There are a few perqs and benefits.
- Flexibility of work is nice.

Cons- There seems to be limited growth and opportunities for teams and individuals.
- It would be nice to have more resources dedicated to professional development.

Advice to Senior Management- Very often it feels like the company's long-term direction and strategy is unclear.
- There isn't much communication coming from upper management and the executive team.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Quality people, quality service, growing

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Edgewater Technology full-time

ProsSmall business but for the most part quality of consultants working is high. At Ranzal, most people provide much higher quality solutions than the big 4 counterparts. Top of the class in the BI/EPM niche.

ConsGrowth of classic consulting is needed for a bit more wholsesome growth of the firm, Ranzal and Edgetech appear to be doing great.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore powerful marketing perhaps?

Good company to work for

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Wakefield, MA

I have been working at Edgewater Technology full-time for more than 10 years

ProsWork from home, travel, keep up with current business trends and technologies. Enjoy the freedom and flexibility to work on different projects. Very rarely do the same project twice.

ConsBeing a public company consumes too much fiscal resources which could be better spent on employees. Laptops for most of the staff are pretty ancient.

Review

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Little Rock, AR

I have been working at Edgewater Technology

ProsWork from home, flexible work schedule

ConsExpected to work as hard/long as required to finish the job, Not great direction on how to advance career, poor review process due to lack of valid feedback, bonus structure based on projects not your actual performance

Advice to Senior ManagementFigure out a way to help give people who do a great job a bonus or incentive to continue to work hard and produce good work, also need to rework the review process so the feedback is accurate and complete and also the reviewer should have worked with the person getting the review

Review of BDM role

Business Development Manager (Former Employee)
Wakefield, MA

I worked at Edgewater Technology

ProsEdgewater provided a very good product and service and had exceptional technologists employed that were on projects. Edgewater also had a non-structured environment which allowed us to be creative and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

ConsThe sales model at Edgewter was backwards. They really lacked a sales culture in that most of the selling was done by non-sales people who did not know what a customer was. There was a mentality of "let me tell you how smart we are so you'll buy from us".

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more customer focused. Listen to customers more. Understand and embrace that the service industry, regardless of the product, is all based on the customer.

Hands off management.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Boston, MA

I worked at Edgewater Technology

ProsYou get a lot of autonomy in dealing with the client. There is very little second guessing of how a deliverable should be crafted for the client. The cash compensation was good. Whenever your saw the senior management face to face, they were personable and friendly.

ConsThere are times when you want hands-on management - like for an annual performance review and salary review. I was there 5 years and it never happened to me. I have no idea if they followed a formal process for promotions; if they did, it was not apparent to the rank and file. The culture seemed to be "out of sight, out of mind"; ironically, the more one was out of the office making money for the company, the less valuable one was perceived because you were not seen.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake the HR processes more consistent and transparent.
