    Pros

Liked the staff, interesting deals, finance staff very strong, good balance sheet, CEO was strong and well liked in industry, president was one of my favorites. Well educated employees.

Very little mentoring, which is not a big problem when dealing with strong well trained and educated staff.

    Cons

Pension benefits were much lower than other comparable similar employees. Tried to get an employee benefits statement in writing from a senior executive and could not. Pension benefits were 50% or less!

ASK FOR BONUS RELATED TO OVERSEAS TRAVEL AND DEALS IN ADVANCE!! YOU WILL RECEIVE NOTHING OTHERWISE. WORKED UNTIL 2 AM ON DEAL AND NO-ONE CARED. FIRM WILL PUT YOU INTO DANGEROUS WORK SITUATIONS WITHOUT THOUGHT. PROTECT YOURSELF AHEAD OF TIME IN WRITING AND BCC A COPY TO HUMAN RESOURCES. Male chauvinist atmosphere for several of the older key employees, but not all.

Extensive travel. Worked over 70 hours a week without overtime or significant bonus. Incentive pay completely unrelated to deals closed or hours worked. Ignore boss' lying about being present for deal closings...!!! Boss failed to sign human resources paperwork on a timely basis for three years for promotion and out of state move.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pensions administration requires more attention and incentive pay is needed for work environments of more than 60 hours per week on average.

    Pros

Some good, experienced colleagues to work with and learn from.

    Cons

Leadership from the top to the bottom of the organization promotes dysfunctional, fearful, and thoughtless actions. If you have ever seen animals being herded, you know that anything can spook them into a full on stampede into any number of directions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look in the mirror and make intelligent choices; don't just follow thoughtless orders from people who do not know what they are doing.

    I worked at Edison International

    Pros

Management really want to grow their employees. The culture is different in each group, but for the most part, everyone gets along real well and is treated with respect by their supervisors. The management gives active feedback on projects and as such, employees are able to stay motivated.

    Cons

Being a corporation, growth is slow and many employees are satisfied with not going above and beyond the status quo.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would encourage more active engagements in projects by lower level employees. Also, give more potential for growth within the company.

    I worked at Edison International

    Pros

The folks at Edison International are very nice yet also deep subject matter experts who are more than willing to share their information with you. My boss took a direct and sustained role in developing me and ensuring that my deliverables came off well.

    Cons

The regulatory uncertainty makes it challenging to understand if there will necessarily be a job opportunity at the end of your internship but management emphasizes the role that networking and showing your work around the business has on your prospects.
