    Pros

The pros of my job were that I was able to find employment while also being a full time student.

    Cons

A con was that my work hours did take a way from the hours that I needed to study and practice my skills in my art program.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to be a little less rigid in the hiring process because many capable students were denied employment.

    Pros

Do embrace technology, do embrace their overall mission statement, like to promote from within.

    Cons

Very poor communication within the company, sometimes secretive, very biased towards one part of the company.

  6. Good Company BUT be cautious

    Pros

Education Management Corporation is a great company. There are a lot of friendly and talented people that work for the company and everyone supports each other. Managers and supervisors provide the freedom to get your work done.

    Cons

I would highly, highly recommend that you do a lot of research before joining the company. There are a lot of changes happening, and you need to be comfortable with the changes.

  7. It has been an emotional roller coaster to say the least.

    Pros

If you make it to your one year anniversary then you receive a $5,000 raise. The benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

The goals set by the company are unrealistic, management is terrible, and it's very stressful relying on unreliable people to meet your goals every month because if you don't then you'll be let go from the company.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic and give positive feedback to your teams.

    Pros

Great place to work. It is fast paced and high pressure. You must be adaptable to change. The people are professional and nice for the most part. Pay is decent.

    Cons

Long hours. Located in the strip district. Parking stinks. Fast paced and high pressure.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the lower level employees more. We are in the trenches and are in touch with what is really going on.

  9. Benefits, pay, and perks are better than other large employers in the area.

    Pros

Pay seems to be slightly more at this company than others companies would pay for the same position

    12 paid holidays

3 weeks vacation available for use right away (most places start you with 2 weeks which you need to accrue)

Eligible for benefits after 30 days (they begin after 60 days)

Free tuition to any of their schools after 90 days with no commitment to the company after graduation

A lot of managers care about employee morale and their are a lot of personal development programs available

Upper management does attempt to communicate the state of the company through meetings with question and answer sessions

Work from home a few days a week for many positions

Clean bathrooms; every hour on the hour

    Cons

Poor company outlook; this is a good job for me because I only plan on being here for about two years, but I wouldn't bank on making it my career

    A lot of layoffs

    401k match was taken away

The workload can be pretty heavy at times. If someone quits or there are layoffs in other cities, it does not seem like people are hired to fill the previous position

You need to remain in a position for 1 year once you accept it (understandable to a degree if you are trying to change every 2 months, but it can be a little ridiculous)

    Advice to Management

It seems there is a large effort right now to retain employees. If this is the case, give people a chance to advance. I missed an opportunity for a better position that I most likely would have gotten had HR approved my app just shy of a year. It would have been a year by the time I changed roles and I probably would have considered staying with the company considerably longer had I gotten that position.

    Pros

Salary and benefits are good but you really have to work hard and the management is unfair and makes unreasonable demands.

    Cons

Leaders have agenda to advance does not really care about students or rmployers

    Advice to Management

Promote the right people not the favorites

    Pros

I cannot think of one legitimate pro!

    Cons

Employee turnover, managers who care about nothing but numbers, nonexistent oportunities for promotion, misleading students

    Advice to Management

I would give advice, but as usual; they'd never listen.
