    Pros

Great sense of community, very relaxed environment. A great work-life balance here, and I've made a lot of great connections.

    Cons

Some uncertainties with the for-profit education market, not many employee appreciation activities to participate in.

    Pros

Small classes. The opportunity to make great progress with many students that would not make it into more prestigious Universities. Every student has a chance to succeed! Very dedicated faculty and staff in some areas.

    Cons

There is a set curriculum that is not high quality and does not incorporate or allow faculty input. Very poor pay, lower even than Community College pay and with no benefits at all. Classes frequently cancelled. Unethical practices that prioritize making money off of students at all costs.... Students are set up for failure in many ways... Faculty input is ignored....No chance for any raises or advancement...literally none, regardless of the quality of your work or the amount of years at the school. Evaluations are more like punitive treasure hunts trying to find any small error over a year rather than noticing the norm and strengths of the faculty. No in-class evaluations are done of faculty; just online.

    Advice to Management

You don't lead this school with any business savvy or higher education savvy. So, what is your background?? Good business creates win wins, recognizes employees and pays them fairly, rewards loyalty, strives to improve, and serves a good purpose in society while making a profit from honesty work. None of these principles are being followed, and so it's definitely not a good business person at the helm. Higher Education promotes learning, role models professionalism, supports and promotes academic freedom and excellence. Again, there is no higher education expertise shown in this University where curriculum is so uncreative....you do not take the experience of the faculty and allow it to be incorporated, and money making is priority over learning. So, I have no clue who is at the top really and what their motivations are. Politicians? The pay for Adjunct Faculty is so low that it ends up less than $20,000 yr. even if you teach 3 courses per semester (considered full time at most Universities). Imagine living on that. Why would students be motivated to think education will get them more pay when their teacher makes so little? There are no benefits for Adjuncts and no raises. Pay has been lowered twice.....Regardless of your positive evaluations and great work, you receive nothing...no recognition and lower pay. What terrible practices. Shame on you to all managers and those at the top that buy into and benefit from this.

    Pros

The only pro, literally, is that it's a paycheck until your next job. Not even worth the time to interview, plenty of other places to work.

    Cons

Left the job because of Joe Selden. Joe routinely showed up to work drunk or hungover, and twice the month I left, caught him drinking in his office and making inappropriate sexually charged comments with his staff. Police called me FOUR TIMES over the past year asking if I knew anything about the alleged assault charges from him beating his wife and kids. I also mirror the thoughts on self-absorbed leadership. Joe is a metaphor to what goes on with this company.

    Advice to Management

I'd be taking a hard look at who is gatekeeping and managing your company. The place will continue to slide with management this poor.

  6. Once a great company now just a poor service to those it serves.

    Pros

Great people on campus to work with. They solve problems caused by corporate not knowing what to do or how to do it.

    Cons

Too much corporate control-poor leadership at the Chicago campus (president) micromanaged

    Advice to Management

Trust your key leaders and let them manage

    Pros

The faculty are fantastic. Almost everyone that isn't on the administrative side of the company is great to work with.

    Cons

The company doesn't value their employees. Bad benefits and low pay. The continuing threat of being cut is always present.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and work actively to keep them in the school, otherwise it will close faster than it already is.

    Pros

pay, proximity, reputation for psychology programs

    Cons

have to drink the Kool-Aid to survive mentally, very behind technologically speaking, very limited degree selection, teams act like high school cliques, racial favoritism (seem to prefer blacks), only one shift available, no overtime, crammed cubicles, building's too small in comparison to what they need to accommodate, butt-kissers get ahead quickest, stupid and nitpicky regulations as far as what you can say to students, rules change constantly, training is not articulate or conveyed very well, nor is it thorough/sufficient. You go onto the team having to ask for help constantly.

    Advice to Management

Stop expecting people to blend in with the popular people to avoid making waves, appreciate diversity amongst reps, provide surveys for MANAGERS, as very few are effective or respectable, avoid nepotism, grow some intestinal fortitude when it comes to being firm, fair and consistent and KNOW the answers your reps ask rather than bs'ing about how you'll find out if you don't know and then never get back with the rep! Be willing to do whatever you ask your reps to do rather than leaving early constantly but complaining about reps doing the same, or coming in late and complaining about reps doing the same. LEAD BY EXAMPLE!!!

    Pros

vacation days and working with students

    Cons

no room for growth and advancement, no job security, constant layoffs

    Advice to Management

The owners of the corporation should be willing to take pay cuts instead of laying off so many people. They never make necessary changes and as a result they keep closing campuses.

    Pros

The students, faculty, and staff were generally wonderful people; go higher up the ladder and it would be hard to find a worse place to be an educator.

    Cons

Management is the epitome of the Peter Principle. Want to make more money & have more power? Easy, just be ineffective and you'll rise through the ranks.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the education business. Stop enrolling students into programs. Go into the fast food business where you'll do less harm.
