This used to be a very good college for subjects not generally offered at traditional colleges; however since the Gainful Employment legislations, its excellence has diminished and its reputation quite low.

    Pros

The students and most of my fellow colleagues!

    Cons

Poor Management, duplicitous tactics in management, dubious Financial planning for students; curriculum not cutting edge or on par with Industry Standards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk in the shoes of those below you, clean out from the TOP, not the bottom, eliminate the masculine dominance in upper Management. Redesign the identity of the College and end the age discrimination in Admissions.

    Pros

The team is very committed to the success of the student and helping them be successful in school and achieving their career/education goals. The compensation is fair.

    Cons

Not a good work/life balance. Sometimes the values/mission of the organization comes into conflict with having a positive impact on the bottom line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more opportunities for employees to develop and grow professionally. Also, be open to new ideas and trying new things. Be willing to challenge policies and not go along with the status quo.

    Pros

Fast paced. A lot of diversity at my particular site.

    Cons

For-profit college's only want to admit students to meet a sales quota regardless of the student's talent and ability.

    Pros

I always suggest this option to fellow students, especially those that have a hard time with scheduling. It's very great for a student looking for fair work/life balance without worrying about reporting to their employer every little thing that changes in their school schedule. I have two work study jobs at the school, and I definitely enjoy working with other students.

    Cons

Can only work 20 hours a week. Pay is average, and at only 20 hours a week isn't enough to keep a student afloat when faced with real world responsibilities such as housing and bills from the school. Especially when looking at how much a student has to pay to be a part of this average school system. More perks would be nice, "free copies" isn't very ground breaking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Filter through who is employed as a teacher more regularly, many more passionate faculty is cut for not working at the company as long as their less-than-enthusiastic peers. Have a more clear outlook on classes and policies, they change way too frequently. Look into offering student workers more perks since pay is average.

It started out great; however, the company is always making changes and not consistent with their mission in decisions

    Pros

Good people work here. Compensation is pretty good.

    Cons

Always cutting benefits, not consistent with company decisions, vision isn't the same across the board which causes disgruntled employees. No work/life balance - always asked to work on the weekends for events and they are always changing the dates of the events, so no one has any organization of what is really going to happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees and things could turn around. Stop cutting benefits and making everyone work harder. Keep it simple and allow the individual campus locations to have more independence to know what works in their particular market vs. micromanaging from corporate level assuming every school is the same.

    Pros

Great people on the "indian" level vs. "chief" level.

    Cons

Management is not really focused, doesn't appropriately focus the troops. Management recently dropped the 401K match, a 6 % pay cut was not good news.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on a reasonable number of objectives, quit chasing the next shiny object. I believe the pay is reasonable for what we do. The facilities are nice.

    Pros

Office complex in downtown Pittsburgh is modern and well maintained.

    Cons

Too many to list. Despite what they tell new hires, EDMC cares about nothing but profit. They treat their employees like cattle and their students even worse. Employees in admissions are routinely told to pressure prospective students into applying for school even if they are clearly unqualified. Then, they are given a high-pressure sales pitch to accept extensive financial aid for a sub-par education that usually exceeds $50,000. This company is devious, ruthless and a borderline scam. Avoid them at all costs! The schools they represent are often legitimate, but EDMC is nothing short of a snake-oil salesman hawking online pipe dreams that rarely if ever satisfy students aspirations or even governmental standards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. There is really nothing to say to people who engage in such unethical business practices while treating their employees like expendable, and not particularly valued assets.

    Pros

If you're an executive you don't have anything to worry about. Pay is great and you have pretty decent job security (if you're at that level). Other than that, there aren't really pro's. The people are nice for the most part.

    Cons

No job security. Not compensated fairly for work, I did not receive a raise for 2 years, know of others who have not received a raise or promotion in 3 years or more. Company does not care about the students, no matter what they say. It's a business, business is about money, not about students. 401K was cut, so that is not even a benefit anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pack it in. Unless you change something quick, the ship is sinking. Priorities need to shift toward the employees more. While the business aspect is crucial, it's tough to run a business without employees.
