    Mostly positive experience

English Assistant (Former Employee) Nice (France)

ProsGreat for part-time work while completing a degree.
    Relatively flexible working hours.
Many teachers allow for creativity around how you deliver lessons.

ConsBureaucracy, bureaucracy, bureaucracy. So many hoops to jump through, but that's par for the course in France.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Interesting experience but only for students

Assistant D'éducation (Former Employee) Haubourdin (France)

ProsIt is always interesting to work with kids and try to help them succeed.
My colleagues were also very nice, except for the headmaster.
I could also organize my timetable according to my courses at the University (I was still a student), which is a great thing.
Working at the Education Nationale makes you get a lot of paid holidays.

ConsThe worst thing was the lack of organization and the lack of staff.
There was also an important lack of communication, which is quite suprising in a school.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Neutral

Assistante Étrangère De Langue Anglaise (Former Employee) Vierzon (France)

ProsThis is a unique opportunity to work as a teacher, live abroad, and learn another language.

ConsAssistants are placed all over the country, sometimes is isolated locations. There is no opportunity for advancement, of course, so it is important to think ahead to the future and do some career planning. The job itself is agreeable if you like your coworkers, at least some of your students, and teaching.

Advice to Senior ManagementYoung people in this position may benefit from some guidance in looking for work to begin once they have completed their assistantship and returned to their home country. Perhaps the home country could coordinate or sponsor some of this.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
