    Pros

Educatius is a company that has grown very quickly since it started. It has been great to be a part of a fast growing company.

    Cons

The rapid growth comes with the frustration of growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget why we started in the first place.

    Pros

Interacting with people from many different cultures and helping to change people's lives in a positive way is the best part of this company.

    Cons

Meeting deadlines, working with teenagers and the layers of people involved in this kind of work can be challenging at times.

    Advice to Management

Remember that our business cannot exist without students, host families and ICs!

    Pros

The best part about my position is the flexibility it allows. As long as you're performing up to the company's expectations and keep in communication with your management, much of the job is able to be done at home. This is a major benefit to working mothers or other employees who live too far to be able to commute to one of the offices.
Another pro is the team. Colleagues treat each other like family here, and show a great interest in each other's personal lives- celebrating birthdays or other special days together in the office. Furthermore, the office environment is very casual as far as dress or hours- as long as you're putting in a full day.
The company has changed immensely in the past year alone. They have hired 3 more Directors to oversee the management team, which means that each manager has a lot more support, guidance, and training. This support, in turn, is offered down to the next level, the coordinators. Whereas before, coordinators were not receiving enough training, support, or communication from their Regional Managers, all of these areas have improved greatly over the past year, and the company is continuing to go through many changes and improvements. Another positive thing to note is that any coordinator who places and coordinates 3 students is now invited on the international trip, where in previous years, they had to place 10. Coordinators are also often recruited up to the management level.

    Cons

Personal bonuses that were made to seem very attainable were actually quite impossible to meet. They have, however, made great changes to the bonus structure in the last year, so it's possible that this will improve too.
Communication across different departments is an issue. Each department seems to work individually, but with a lack of cross-training or cross-communication. This too seems to be improving, but the overall issue could benefit from some structured, weekly meetings.
Compensation should generally be better for a job that requires such high commitment.
The Maternity policy had been non-existent before this year, and now, while they have one, it could be a lot better.

    Advice to Management

Enforce weekly staff meetings, including Directors from all the different teams (Business Development, Customer Service, Host Family, Training, etc) so that each team can share updates and new requirements, and the Directors can then share those with the Management team.
Focus on Quality rather than Quantity. The same amount of hours, effort, and spending goes into the recruitment and training of a coordinator at a school with 1 student (where that student may likely cancel before arriving) as it does into a school expecting 10 students. More energy should go into cultivating those relationships with our top schools, in order to gain exclusive contracts, rather than being 1 out of dozens of agencies at certain schools where there are no loyalties to our company.

    Pros

This company changes lives and is shaping the international leaders of tomorrow. It's very exciting to see students grow in independence and self esteem during their time in the U.S.

    Cons

We are working with teenagers, so it can be unpredictable at times.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to all levels of staff and contractors.

    Pros

This organization provides support and an open door to all employees. They are continuously looking for ways to continue to be the best. There is not another job that you can love to do every day like this one. It's good to love what you do!

    Cons

There are some issues with communication between departments, but they are focused on improving them. There are delays between hiring staff when needed so sometimes you are overworked, and anything related to a pay raise also takes time.

    Advice to Management

Keep the people you have that are doing a good job for you and love what they do. It is much harder and more expensive- not to mention a little bit of a risk- to bring on a new employee and train them than it is to make some accommodations for the current employees doing a good job. Make a goal to improve the time that someone stays with the company. There shouldn't be such a high turnover rate if everyone loves what they do.

    Pros

Co workers are wonderful, warm and diverse. Overall ideal to have an experienced based environment for both students and host families is right on Mark.

    Cons

Highest management is walked on by international agents and the fear of backlash from natural parents. Sacrifices what is right for what is right now. Terrible way to create repeat business and staying power of its employees and volunteers.

    Advice to Management

Creat a comprehensive training program compete with key behaviors and practices that are sustainable in the industry. Stop the reactionary tactic. It is a guarantee to fail.

    Pros

Work environment is fun & friendly, with staff coming from diverse backgrounds.

    Cons

Living wage salaries are reserved only for friends of the owner & upper management. Swedish staff are given preferential treatment because the company is Swedish owned. Important decisions are poorly designed and executed, then blamed on the lowest staff to pick up the pieces.

    Advice to Management

Pay people a living wage and you will see a return on your investment. Train your managers and listen to your staff. Most people like the work environment but are severely underpaid/ undervalued.

    Pros

Great room to grow, continuous interaction with people, development of relationship around the world, challenging situations in different scenarios. It is a good place to work at.

    Cons

Customer service very demanding; the natural growing process brings some flaws in the internal organization, which is very understandable, it is like this everywhere, when a company is growing fast.

    Advice to Management

To be consistent identifying new opportunities to develop structure and organization; as the integration between the areas becomes more fluently, all the performance will raise enormously

    Pros

Fantastic, enthusiastic and talented people. International mentality with coworkers from all over the world. Lots of growth which can be stressful but also presents opportunities for professional growth. I've been given a lot of flexibility on how to accomplish my goals. I've also been able to see a need within the company and propose a new role. I appreciate the strong tie into CSR, an offshoot of the company donates funds to support students being educated in impoverished areas around the world.

    Cons

It IS a very quickly growing organization and that growth can create an unpredictable environment. It's not a good match for people who want a predictable job and routing every day. You are responsible for people's children and the company will bend over backwards to support them. That can create a stressful, highly emotional environment. The rapid growth requires more consistent communication.

    Advice to Management

Keep on listening to staff and keep on refining processes and systems that can support a larger company. More training for all staff part time and full. Encourage opportunities for staff and parters to meet in person to support collaborative communication.
