I worked at Edwards Lifesciences full-time

    Pros

It seemed that there are opportunities sometimes for community contributions and for involvement in projects to grow and move upward in your path at work.
Salaries are quite good and so are all benefits including medical and other perks.

    Cons

special project involvement seemed to be aimed only at certain people selected by a dept. manager or the ones who know how to appeal to that manager.
Educational talks, or seminars were not spoken of or advertised and who knows if it comes up at all but was very much missing from the picture. however, there was frequent mention of education and opportunity for that but not openly and clearly available if it was.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be actually aware of what truly occurs in the departments below you. Find ways to observe or have accurate knowledge of the lower management and how they operate with their staff. not to rely on casual contact with them on brief conversations or when getting numbers reports. There are employees who very likely have a lot to share but are AFRAID to open their mouth at all.

I have been working at Edwards Lifesciences full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay appears good on surface until you actually experience what is expected.
Decent benefits on par with other major medical device companies.
    Decent cafeteria on site.
Many well equipped conference rooms on campus so that you can carry out productive meetings.
On site gym is decent and monthly dues are cheap. Basketball court on site too.
    Non smoking campus.

    Cons

Highly political organization where you find your job will be pulled in all directions. They will always use the excuse that "we are saving lives" to cause you to work ultra long hours. Work life balance is not a consideration. Sink or Swim Environment. Processes are not up to par with the result that you will have to work extra hard to get the job done to expectation. Again, work life balance is not a consideration. If you don't do as told or "as expected,", you may experience coercion. Competitive and cutthroat work environment some might even call abusive. This place is very different from what it was just five years ago as I experienced. There has been high turnover and some of this turnover continues to today. They give you "one week downtime holiday" between Christmas and New Years so you are sold that you get three weeks vacation. In reality, only works out to about 2 weeks and three days vacation with no floating holidays. So, it's just like you are starting out in any other company with two weeks vacation keeping in mind other companies usually give you two floating holidays.

I have been working at Edwards Lifesciences full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Always a party or happy hour. Just when you think you hate your job, there's a party or some free schwag to bring you back up. A company that takes care of you, true to motto of Patients first, extremely dedicated employees especially at assembler/operator level in Operations.

    Cons

Engineers spend majority of time on paperwork. Poor planning/strategy causes priorities to change daily. Marketing input valued more than best manufacturing practices. Rush for regulatory submissions often results in not the best solutions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

VPs, what do your Directors actually do all day?

    Pros

I like the core team aspect as well as the operators. It can depend on where you work though. There are several business units from CSS, to HVT, to THV. Great benefits!

    Cons

The pay for the operators is atrocious considering they're making life saving devices and only starting at $10.76. I was in THV and it was a crappy place to work based on upper management, specifically Nathan Tenzer. Do not work for this guy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider adding someone who is more personable than Tenzer.

    Pros

It was the best experience I 've ever had. Helped me develop and apply my engineering skills, The satisfaction of implementing my ideas. The satisfaction of contributing in the manufacture of products intended for the health and care of an ill patient. An excellent opportunity to grow as a professional.

    Cons

    Excellent pay, medical plan, trainings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A company that didn't hessitate in any investment to help employees and the community.

    Pros

Awesome products that saving a lot of lives.

    Cons

Long hours. Terrible environment in Draper. No possible advancement. Managers know everything and won't promote from within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire Tenzer and reshape THV management. They did an OK job at getting THV Draper running but their medling will rear it's ugly head in a few years. No regard for humans; employees or otherwise. You think you have problems with the FDA now... They offer no mentorship because that would take time away from shipping product. Does Mussalim know that Draper THV managemet is doing the exact opposite of everything that preaches and believes in?
