I worked at Edwards Lifesciences full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Edwards makes pretty awesome devices that do a lot of good for people. They have a nice building with an employee gym and cafeteria. Their pay and benefits are pretty good, the Draper location is nice and easy to get to. Most people are really easy to work with and will help you if you need it.

    Cons

Not the place to work long term, they tend to hire a lot of younger, recent college grads with little experience because they'll gladly take the job and work the 60+ hours a week and get treated like crap. It's nearly impossible to get a promotion unless you're a woman or a minority. Toxic upper level management, they don't motivate with the proper methods. They prefer to instill fear and treat you like you don't matter. In my opinion, JA and NT need to go, if they were gone, this place would be much better. I worked for Edwards when they were in Midvale and it is definitely not the same company it used to be, which is sad to say because they used to be great.

    Advice to Management

CEO needs to change the leadership in Draper, specifically two people who are the root cause of all the unnecessary stress.

    Pros

Great collaborative environment, a lot of fairly young people, a lot of very friendly people, gorgeous campus (Irvine), and great University Relations program (for interns and new grads) to facilitate the younger ones meeting each other as well as to meet the leadership, on-campus facilities such as a subsidized cafeteria with good food, a gym, and volleyball and basketball courts. Good parking garage as well.

    Cons

Wasn't there long enough to observe longer-term cons.

I have been working at Edwards Lifesciences full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and employee resources are among the best. Helping patients is always a pro and the mission statement holds true

    Cons

No direction.. CIO is lost and company seems focused on short term deliverables. Middle management seems to be lost when providing direction. No recognition when you go above the requirements. Good luck on advancement..

    Pros

Great Benefits and lots of fun, educated co-workers. Ability to travel and be involved with global operations. Clean work environment.

    Cons

Corporate politics at play - it's more about who you know and winning them over vs. demonstrating solid performance. Overwhelming amount of procedures are in force given it is a regulated industry.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach - attract and retain key talent!

    Pros

Very smart people! Dynamic product lines!

    Cons

Knee jerked around so much, got whiplash! Management would not effectively enable people to do job properly, but expected quick results like they had unlimited resources. Would not see reality.

    Advice to Management

Plan properly and have the faith in the employee to do their jobs properly.
