I have been working at Edwards (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Edwards has wonderful people who are dedicated and very capable. Good products and full engagement of the personnel in doing what is right for the customer and for the company at the same time. This is one of the key advantages that I think we have.

    Cons

Overall I think that Edwards can be somewhat short sighted and like many companies tends to focus on next quarters results. This results in sometimes being very short handed for some difficult problems. But compared to our competitors we have many more resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase personnel to maintain our position.

I worked at Edwards full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Good emphasis on safety. Many cross functional teams but pointless as it is beyond reach.

    Cons

    1. Silo mentality and zero team work.
    2. Slow or no response to issues.
    3. Blame culture. Not looking at systems but focus failures on individual.
    4. With such varied and complicated product offerings, shocking that even 10+ years employees had no training.
    5. Throwing pot shots at one another is the order of the day. Extremely bad culture and dissuade any would be pro active workers. Do more? Get blamed more.
    6. Good at packaging but low on deliverables.
    7. Claimed to understand customer's needs and wants but actually living aloof. Deals only the big and neglects the upcoming and promising.
    8. Snobbish. Charge exorbitant price for products and services but performance is mediocre.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Customers needs are evolving. Not helped by super old school and super out of touch senior managers. Needs, wants and products/services offering not addressing big gaps (perceived versus needs).

I worked at Edwards full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Enjoyed working on shift with coworkers.

    Cons

Very understaffed due to fixed contract, so the more work that can be done with less employees, that's more money in company's pocket. Safety is NOT important. There were constant safety meetings and emails, but proper safety equipment was not provided, and to follow safety procedures properly, the headcount would need to have doubled. Safety was preached, but when it came time to get the work done, management turned their head the other way so long as the work was getting done FAST. In almost 2 years working there, NEVER once had a one-on-one with manager concerning my performance, or what my goals were, or any discussion what-so-ever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to hire site manager with college degree, and does NOT walk around with chess puffed out and acting like he's better and smarter than everyone else. Train site manager on how to NOT be arrogant, egotistical, disrespectful, and out right rude!!!!

    Pros

Global company. Technology leader in vacuum technology. Japan products very reliable. UK manufacturing organization impressive and customer focused. Overall this was a good place to work.

    Cons

I left immediately after buyout. I have heard it has now become a non customer focused company. The organization now has compressed itself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I cannot comment on this since the organization has changed drastically over the past 3 years. I have seen many good people depart the company over this period of time.

    I worked at Edwards

    Pros

Lots of cross functional support, HR partners well educated and built into the business. H&Safety is built into the organisation

    Cons

The business is probably too complicated for the board to understand or manage, as a result they have more great ideas than they can take advantage of. Being set up for private equity to leave so a bit cash poor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

H&S is too powerful and quality is too low down the scale of control
