Pros – Competent professionals inside the stores. Healthy ethical view toward customers. Employees become very knowledgeable working here. Store managers I've been in contact with have been some of the best I have met in retail.
Cons – The parent company that owns Edwin Watts has cut sales associate commissions from 3% to 0.25% and have raised and kept it at 0.75%. If I sell a $1000, I make $7.50. They also cut all matching on 401k, vacations time, sales contests and incentives. We have no advertising budget for the store and we loose so much business to the competition because they advertise and we don't. Like the $10,000,000,000 that owns us cant drop a few k on some golf channel ads??? All three competitors run the same promo because they are sponsored by the manufactures. But no one knows we run them because we cant advertise.
Advice to Senior Management – Throw us a bone. $1,000,000 in sales with a generous margin and all i have to look forward is a cheap gesture and $7500 in yrly commissions. kind of insulting.

Current Employee – been working at Edwin Watts Golf full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Edwin Watts has some of the most fun employees a company could ask for, who genuinely care about golf, their customers and making sure everyone has a good time.
Cons – Executive Management no longer cares about anyone who works at their stores. It is strictly a numbers business, with reprimands coming merely cause a spreadsheet doesn't add up. Not the way it used to me.
Advice to Senior Management – Embrace your employees and show you care. The company would not succeed without the amazing staff, so make sure they are taken care off.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Edwin Watts Golf full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Excellent employee discounts, knowledgeable staff, staff longevity, smaller office, flexible work hours for most employees.
Cons – Reduction in hours, pay freezes, not as family oriented as they used to be, corporate culture - without the corporate.
Advice to Senior Management – Go back to basics! There used to be employee fundraisers for local charities, morale boosters and teambuilding exercises, but no more. Edwin Watts himself used to know every employee by name, what they did and who there family was. Current management there could care less. Overall morale is extremely low.

Current Employee – been working at Edwin Watts Golf
Pros – Staff is great to work with, the Knoweldge of the staff is best in the industry!
Cons – Corporate has to many people telling the stores to do things 20 diffrent ways. There is no communication amoung corporate personel. Edwin used to try to make employees better in any means they could. no company will replace you when having problems. Managers have almost no say on how store is run. there are people running this company that dont know squat about the business!
Advice to Senior Management – Do what Edwin used to do, Listen to your Managers. They know the market better then you do!!

Former Employee – worked at Edwin Watts Golf
Pros – Golf is a great game, the customers are always excited to come to the store. There are many regular customers that you get to know on a personal basis. It feels great to fit a customer for a club/set of irons and have them walk out satisfied and excited to hit the links. Its a relaxed atmosphere to work in, and the management was fun and easy going, yet productive.
Cons – A lot of my pay was based on commission, so if I wasn't selling enough product (or certain products) I wasn't making much money. I only worked there for a summer, so I never got the hang of making sales (though I did have a few very successful ones). Working at Edwin Watts isn't all working the sales floor and mingling with customers. As with all retail stores there is dirty work as well- vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the restrooms, and keeping the inventory room organized.
Advice to Senior Management – I enjoyed working at Edwin Watts for the short period I did. The management did a great job of introducing me to every day activities, and was always keeping an eye on me to give me advice on improving my performance when I needed it (without criticism).

Former Employee – worked at Edwin Watts Golf
Pros – Relaxed atmosphere, flexible hours, fun products to work with. Employees love the game of golf and love to share and hear their golf stories with customers.
Cons – Raises are not given. Raises have not been given to anyone in years. Management promotions are not given based on performance, but who you know.
Advice to Senior Management – Management needs to get in stores, spend time working in the stores talking (and listening to employees) . Mosy employees are very unhappy and just have no where to go.
