Pros
How many startups do you know that offer a 401(k) match, how many do you know that acquired a company, how many do you know that have very low employee contribution costs for benefits? EF has all of this and more! We also have a CFO that supports investing in technological resources that make sense, he's not your typical CFO - so conservative that you have to beg, borrow and steal to get a new resource.
Cons
Offer leadership training, EF is a great gig, we can be better ... a little training goes a long way.
Advice to Senior Management
Cultivate people as they are the most important asset.
Pros
account management stagg is dedicated and capable
good benefits
Cons
disrespectful behavior by engineering management
quality is ignored
Pros
- Opportunity to work with the brightest people
- Efficient Frontier is an industry leader and we work with the biggest clients across Search, Facebook and Display
- Opportunity for personal growth and advancement
- Company is focused on profitability, growth and shareholder value
- Flexible schedules, good work/life balance
- Free soda, coffee and snacks ;)
Cons
- When there are open positions it's difficult to find great candidates to fill the roles, so hiring can take a little longer than we'd like.
Advice to Senior Management
- Continue working collectively towards the vision and goals you've stated to the organization.
- Great job on the Context Optional acquisition.
Pros
Hard to think of many reasons why I liked my career at EF. They always let me take days of when I wanted. They also have a couple of really smart people on staff who I learned a lot from and would happily work with again.
Cons
There are so many reasons why I thought my short time there was a waste of time. There is so many people with high up job titles that are clueless. Some things I heard from their mouths sounded more like the set of Jersey shore. A lot of gossip and politics the higher up you go. After a few months I understood why there was such a big churn of clients. It was a culture that i feel would be good for people who just work for a pay check.
Advice to Senior Management
Probably not realistic to get rid of so many people on staff so at least try and stop the gossip culture
Pros
Relaxed atmosphere, flexible hours, lots of nice people. The technology (algorithms) behind the product is solid.
Cons
Managers are hit and miss. Some great ones, and some less than savory ones. Although compensation and raises are commensurate to performance, actual career advancement opportunities are on the low side. More recently, cliques have formed within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Market and sell more aggressively!
Pros
I wanted a chance to work at a great Search Engine Marketing company because of Efficient Frontiers good reputation. Unfortunately after a promising start after meeting so many nice people I realized that it was not that different to other Search agencies.
Cons
There was a large amount of politics and managers took credit for hard working staff's good work and also blamed their teams when things went wrong. Unless you were one of the small selection of favorites, the only way to get a raise or promoted was stick around for years and years and just do all the work that was given to you. So be prepared for a lot of long hours. Was a lot of staff leaving in the months before I left.
Advice to Senior Management
To listen to other staff and not just the favorites and give people a reason to want to stay by giving them fair reward for work.
Pros
The vision that EF is execting on is great and very interesting. The team is great and the management team is good at listening and communicating. The technology and the work is very interesting. EF is building a solid platform that will combine search, display and social and its very exciting to work in the environment.
Cons
Lots of work. Can't hire fast enough. Product is very strong and the company needs to market it to more people.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep executing on the big vision of combining search, display and social. Hire faster.
Pros
Relaxed Atmosphere, Friendly People, Independent Work Environment, Decent Work Hours, Flexible Vacation Time.
It is an organization where for most staff in most areas, if you show up, do a semi ok job, enjoy a casual friendly environment you will be satisfied.
Cons
Little Practical Career Growth & No True Career Development, Below Average Remuneration, Understaffed in Key Areas like Product Development & Engineering, Rewards for Tenure & Experience Over Performance.
The outside perspective of the company is of an organization at the cutting edge of the industry technology wise when in reality it is primarily an agency which has an engineering focus and a strong analytics background. So if you are looking to work at a true technology focused and innovative company, you probably should look elsewhere.
Advice to Senior Management
Decide whether you want to be an agency or a cutting edge technology company. Then hire, structure, reward and communicate accordingly.
Pros
Only a summer glimpse - a great place from what I saw. Employees really know their stuff, and the technology behind the product really works. And everyone is really friendly!
Cons
If you were stuck there with no car then the only food option would be in the cafeteria, which is good although a little expensive. Some of the work is pretty Excel intensive, so tedious at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Efficient Frontier is going down a good path and is expanding rapidly. Take care of everyone and have more picnics!
Pros
Exciting space and executing on an exciting vision
Brought in good management and are focused on execution
Good camaraderie in team
Cons
lot of work but otherwise nothing much to complain about.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire some more people so we can execute and grow faster
