I have been working at Ektron full-time for more than 3 years

Pros – The company is growing, there's a lot of hiring in different departments, company is profitable and the new products and direction are great. This is a great company to work for in the Nashua NH area and avoids the terrible commute to Boston. New management has really changed things for the positive and its no longer a 'family' business. Extremely smart people and a lot of new talent recently. Good compensation and upside for sales.

Cons – Lots of change in the past few years, though it seems to be done. Old sales management was horrible and corrupt, but has all been pushed out.

Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work and make sure the product keeps innovating.

Pros – The product is well respected in the industry and in 2012 has become more innovative. New management has breathed new life into the company. The company's direction is exciting and people seem to be working hard. Management team consists of proven professionals from the space and its no longer a family run business.

Cons – Office doesn't have a lot of perks (free soda, food). There was a LOT of change in 2012, though I have much more faith in the company and direction now. Old sales talent was at times embarrassing, though they're all gone now.

Advice to Senior Management – Keep investing in engineering and sales.

Pros – Solid product suite which is well respected in its class.

Cons – No real opportunity for advancement to management level. C-suite are relatives for the most part.
Compensation not competitive but good for those trying to break in to the high-tech market.
Culture is more like you are working for 'them', not working to build a company together as a team.

Advice to Senior Management – Lose the favoritism and work on finding each persons unique abilites, then offer them a path to advance within the company.

Pros – There really isn't much about this company that's a pro. You'll get to work with a product that's held together with bubble gum & duct tape, and a management team that can't seem to see the writing on the wall in the industry. Don't be fooled by analyst ratings, it's all smoke & mirrors.

Cons – - A product that only works correctly in very specific environments, which is not "real world".
- A sham of an ecommerce product.
- Poor commission plans for sales reps.
- Blatant favoritism by management

Advice to Senior Management – Sell now, when there's still some perceived value in the Ektron name

I worked at Ektron full-time for less than a year

Pros – You receive a paycheck every two weeks. The office has air conditioning and free coffee/tea.

Cons – The person in charge of the RIC professional services team is the worst manager possible. Bright guy but terrible people manager. You must be in your seat by 8:30 and leave no earlier than 5:30. Have a doc appt, make up the time. Travel all nite for business, no comp time.

Advice to Senior Management – Read a book or many on servlet lead organizations, it could help stop the leaky drip of employees leaving every three months

I worked at Ektron

Pros – Supporting a sales team I had an opportunity to work with several people during my time at Ektron. Each had a different style and I also had an opportunity to work with the most senior and competent sales professional that I had ever worked with throughout my career. When I worked there the company was always looking forward, worked hard, and enjoyed engaging with pre-sales prospects and opportunities as well as closing new and existing business. Ektron has served the needs of a lot of companies and it was nice to be part of that team.

Cons – While it didn't affect me either personally or financially - there was some favoritism among sales people for deals. The mentality was somewhat "boiler room" and "first come first serve" although the policy was territorial based (the rules changed). That caused some dissension in the ranks but also caused problems with some of their partners (companies that did their best to put a great face on Ektron were mistreated, etc).

Advice to Senior Management – Not so much advice but affirmation - loyal and competent people are worth 10 times more than the revenue they bring in. Ektron's true value comes from this premise.

Pros – Great to meet and work with some really sharp people.

Cons – Didn't seem to use the talents of their employees to the fullest. More of a software-factory.

Pros – Fun employees, laid back environment. The work is what you make of it.

Cons – Grossly unqualified management, frequent and often meaningless promotions within management, disorganized, chaos, lack of vision.

Advice to Senior Management – Quality not quantity must become your motto!

Cons – poor management, poor salary, pissed off clients

Pros – easy job responsibilities, with an opportunity to grow your skill set with the broad base of clients that are requesting work

Cons – low pay for workers that helped grow the company to where it is today. New workers hired with better salary then older.

Advice to Senior Management – start listening to feedback from your employees; get more experienced management in.
