Former Employee – worked at Elastic Path Software full-time
Pros – Elastic Path is a great company to work for. They offer a dynamic and fun work environment. Plus, you get to work with some of the most innovative eCommerce companies around the globe. EP has some of the smartest and talented people I know and continues to grow their footprint in Digital eCommerce.
Cons – Has a strong product but needs to continue to innovate in order to become a market leader.
Advice to Senior Management – Be open to listening to your employees and retaining your employees. The employees are the ones that help make companies great. Delegate and let people that you hire do their job.

Pros – Great people and culture, plus the ecommerce space is exciting and growing significantly. Customer list is impressive (especially given the size of company) and therefore many opportunities to work on interesting projects (even some internationally).
Plenty of opportunities in both the Product and Professional Services departments which provides variety and flexibility for people re: technology, customer-facing skills, travel, client management, sales, team leadership, etc.
Cons – The company has gone through some changes over the past years. It's good that senior management reacts quickly to the market to stay competitive, but you do need to be the sort of person that thrives on, or at least is comfortable with, change.

Pros – Fellow colleagues make it a fun place to work. Lots of big brands now clients of the company. Growing steadily since its inception.
Cons – Upper management needs to learn tact and professionalism, when dealing with both employees and customers. Don't expect much work/life balance either.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat people better and staff retention will improve.

Current Employee – been working at Elastic Path Software full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Elastic Path Software is known for its culture, I've been here 5 years and it's managed to keep the start-up fun vibe. Management values work-life balance, offering generous vacation time, and events and fundraisers are fun, hack days galore, positive people, great benefits (dog friendly, close to transportation, free transit passes, etc), travel opportunities, opportunities to grow in your career
Cons – The rain in Vancouver - it ain't Silicon Valley

Pros – The people at Elastic Path are incredibly intelligent, genuine, and fun. I have never worked in an environment quite like this, where the people feel like family and many people want to stay late to hang out with the other employees. It has really been more then just a job, and i have met some of my closest friends through EP. Professionally, there is tremendous room for growth here. I have been able to work on the projects that i am most interested and professional development highly encouraged and funding is provided. The management team has grown considerably since I started and we now have a solid foundation of leaders from IBM, SAP, EA, etc.
Cons – As a leading edge tech company there are always lots of changes in company strategy, and as a private company we are currently reliant on deals going through so there are budget fluctuations.
– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Pros – - This is a fun place to show up and work at everyday. The culture makes it enjoyable. They know how to have fun and isn't that a bonus often under appreciated...I've worked at places without a fun culture.
- The product seems to be well accepted in the market place. They are moving away from a pricey build model that requires expensive PS to also encompass a packaged and Cloud offering. This could and should be huge for the company.
- We seem to have some fun event planned every week to build company moral.
Cons – I have read what people call a less then seasoned executive staff. This could be true in some roles but certainly not in others. The President/COO and CTO as an example are as seasoned as anyone could expect. Some other roles this could be true in but then you could say this company allows you to advance your career that other companies may not be able to offer.
Advice to Senior Management – Read the feedback that has been left and make a business decision if what is said is accurate. keep in mind that usually unhappy employees (usually former employees) often are the one's who write in this forum.
Don't be afraid to grow through investment. Might not be the time to IPO but it seems like the Product could knock out some of the bigger competitors. A huge investment might be the thing that pushes EP to the next level.

Pros – Chance to work with incredibly smart and friendly developers who are always available to help when you need it. Culture is fun and engaging; lots of people stay on Friday evenings for a drink or to play Rock Band together, and the staff events are a blast. Employees work hard because they believe in the company and have the opportunity to try out leading edge technologies and frameworks. Many grass-roots initiatives by developers have become key parts of the Elastic Path platform.
Cons – If you are not self-motivated, you will struggle at Elastic Path. Employees who take initiative to learn on their own and occasionally join the available lunch-and-learns and/or lunchtime development groups are recognized and rewarded. A new business-driven training system is being implemented but is not yet available.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep being open with employees about company direction and successes/failures. There have been some direction changes in the past few years, but now it feels like the company finally has a product (DCAPI) that differentiates us from the competition.

Current Employee – been working at Elastic Path Software full-time for more than a year
Pros – The entire technical team at this company is extremely talented: smart, knowledgeable, young, and driven/motivated. If you love the craft of agile software development you will love it here. There is a real "do it right the first time, no shortcuts" mentality. Great place to learn.
Cons – Relatively low pay compared to many other software developer opportunities in Vancouver considering the high expectations. Depending on the team you're in, hours may not be very flexible and overtime is expected.

Pros – Startup feel... if that's what you are into. Hires a lot of great people. Extremely dynamic workplace. A good place to gain experience, and to try on different positions/roles. Also, a good place to make contacts in the industry; within a couple of years, close to half of the people you first worked with will now be at various different companies around town.
Cons – No work-life balance. Lots of travel (for certain positions), with no travel notice (ok, maybe a day or two)... the company owns you. They will call you a 'resource' and will treat you as such. You will always be working for impatient clients that will want the world and want it now and a company that will never push back and set expectations correctly (or worse, have EP as your client in product dev), so a constant cycle of overtime and fire-fighting (running around like chickens with their heads cut off) as deadlines approach. Constant shifting of teams and 'resources', so you'd better like change. Drink beer from their tap, but don't drink the kool-aide, this is at best a mediocre company that's just pretending to be the next best thing since sliced bread... something which they are clearly not.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn, grow up and listen to people more qualified/experienced than you. It's not helpful to keep changing company direction every few months (frequently back to what it was before). Own up to your mistakes and don't try to 'spin' everything... respect your employees (by being honest) if you want their respect.
