Current Employee – been working at Elavon full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Elavon has an good work/life balance. In general, the people here are easy to work with, although too many are focused on the next new thing to the detriment of maturing critical capabilities. The new Atlanta facilities are a great improvement. Elavon and U.S. Bank both offer paid time off to help with the charity of your choice and offer internal opportunities to serve the local community. I have to give them credit for this maturing this part of the organization. I hope it continues to grow.
Cons – Resources, in the form of budgets for technology spend and head count, needed by this company to grow and acheive the goals set by U.S. Bank are so anemic the structural changes put in place are filled in org chart only. Salaried employees bonuses are apparently independent of their performance review and the bank's earnings. The medical insurance is nothing short of atrocious. Other "perks" tend to have a veneer of a benefit but
Advice to Senior Management – Provide tangible compensation incentives and structure for professional growth or continue to watch your most talented employees leave. You still have many exceptional employees, ones that truly want to see this company suceed and want to see it succeed by offering best in class solutions. However, I know too many of them that are frustrated to the point morale is dropping and they are seeking opportunities elsewhere. You do a great job getting people in the door. Focus on keeping your talent pool or you will not be able to execute on otherwise great strategies and plans for maturing your programs and processes.

Current Employee – been working at Elavon full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – One of the largest gateway and acquiring companies in North America
I love the people I work with, and the satisfaction of my job.
Cons – DB&A's involvement is leading the company to failure. Elavon is known for amazing service, and micro-management is smothering employees. I feel I cannot effectively do my job because I am forced to spend so much time keeping a very detailed tracking sheet accurate. Exceptional work is not recognized (which I have grown used to), but this new micro-management strategy makes going "Above and Beyond" a NEGATIVE thing in our metrics, leading a WORSE experience for our customers.
Reading from DB&A's reviews on this website, they are not there to help the company, but create an environment so stressful people leave. And our talented people WILL leave if DB&A is not REMOVED.
Advice to Senior Management – Kick out DB&A immediately, let local management teams perform their duty, and let the staff do their job!
Also: we should be leading the industry, other Payments companies are developing new technologies and offering better service. Everyone guns for #1, compete or fail.

Former Employee – worked at Elavon full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Not too much - health benefits are OK.
Cons – My manager did not give me the time he gave other new to learn Elavon-specific information, so I worked hard to learn it on my own. He said I still did not do the job satisfactorily. I quit after two years when even repeated calls to Senior Managements' attention did nothing. The senior manager just said he's "working on it".
Advice to Senior Management – Please take bias on the part of managers that report to you seriously. These are blatant problems that can be helped.

Current Employee – been working at Elavon
Pros – None that I can think of for the lower level employees. Great if you have a degree.
Lots of perks for the day-shifts.
Cons – Training was by osmosis - in other words there was none.
Opportunity for advancement was non-existent.
Schedules set in stone.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay attention to your employees - they are the 'company'.
And when you terminate an employee at least acknowledge them for their hard work and loyalty.

Current Employee – been working at Elavon
Pros – The new (Aug 2010) CEO, Mike Passilla, seems to be making a lot of the right changes. He's brought in some top talent at the highest levels of the company and they are bringing some much needed change to the organization.
The pay is pretty lousy, but since Elavon is owned by a bank, the hours are pretty much 9 to 5 on a normal week. Projects and deadlines occassionally push it beyond that, but it's definitely not a sweat shop. If you need to leave a little early to pick up your kid at school there's no hassle as long as you're getting your work done. Lots of employees work from home.
Cons – They pay stinks, but hey, it's a tough market right now and I'm happy to have the job. The company has brought in a lot of experienced help in the last several years that they would probably never have gotten to look at them in a better job market. Who knows if they'll stay when the employment market finally heats up again.
The company has not invested in its employees and the HR department is largely nonexistent. Management has a hard time focusing on the 'critical few' items and so the "prilority" list is long and nothing's really a priority.
Advice to Senior Management – Invest in developing your people and focus on the critical few priorities.

Former Employee – worked at Elavon
Pros – Elavon works very hard to produce a quality product and to satisfy and earn the loyalty of its customer base. Also, the organization is staffed largely with intelligent, creative and hardworking people.
Cons – Unfortunately, Elavon does not put forth the same in earning the loyalty of its employees. Some "cons" that could be improved with more effort include:
Lack of internal collaboration between departments, making getting work done more challenging and stressful than it has to be.
A very " political culture where employees are often rewarded/promoted for their associations over merit.
A "Just Do It" work environment that does not readily support different work styles, which can be frustrating and stilfling for some.
Advice to Senior Management – Increase communication and transparency
Build a more collaborative culture
Streamline internal processes/technologies: to make employees' job less difficult and time-consuming & to increase organizational effeciency overall
Creative an environment conducive to different work styles
Embrace flexible work and telecommuting arrangements

Current Employee – been working at Elavon
Pros – Good place to start a career. You can learn about the business environment and procedures. Move on after a year or so and do something else. Not that exciting of a company.
Cons – Not that exciting of a company. Business is dull and boring. If you like cubicles and sitting at your desk all day this is the job for you.
Advice to Senior Management – Leadership is good. Upper management doesn't really seem to know what they are doing, but the middle management is good and will help you out when needed.

Current Employee – been working at Elavon
Pros – 1. Job is secure, don't have to worry about being fired.
2. Fun activities from time to time.
3. Employees are friendly.
4. High security for the type of business they do.
Cons – 1. Poor senior management, people are promoted based on "favoritism" not about job performance. People get promoted into positions that have absolutely no experience or knowledge.
2. Not very rewarding, working hard doesn't get recognized.
3. It's all about who you know and how you act. (like everywhere else)
4. Training is very poor. They will train you on things you should have learned 6 months ago.
Advice to Senior Management – Reward based on performance, not just your friends who don't know how to do the job. Things could be more efficient if more competent managers are employed. Recognize good workers and fire the ones that don't meet up to standards. Also have standards.
