Pros
Definitely rewards output whether quality or not. If you seek craziness and a dynamic environment this is the place for you. If you put in the hard yards you will be rewarded.
Cons
Fear and incompentance is what drives management decisions. Undertaffing projects and iniatives, then expecting on time, on budget results is a pipe dream. Yet we do it one project after another.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus and stay the course. Doing quarterly shuffle is not the key to success. In order to go the distance you can't play green light, red light every quarter.
Pros
People are nice and there is alot of folks that have worked a long time with this company. Most of the employees are hard workers and want to help you with any problems.
Cons
New CEO is not from this industry and he is making so many changes that do not fit with this industry. In less than 5 months he has caused sales to drop and turnover in people are going to increase. People that had just been relocated a few months ago from the North were laid off. What kind of company makes a decision to uproute you from your family and community and then within months lays you off. Another decision from our great new CEO.
Advice to Senior Management
Keith is not making the decisions anymore- Jack is. Major changes since he came on board in August 2011 and we will lose good managers and directors to our competitors with his guideance.
Pros
I really believe in the products and the people in the Augusta facility are really great people. That is probably the best reason to work there.
Cons
Lack of any ability to move up in the company or even the ability to gain more responsibility. There are no programs or training classes or personal development to help you if you have areas to work on. If you want to move into being a better leader or an agent that wants to become a supervisor, there is nothing available to help you learn those skills or work on the skills you have at Electrolux.
Advice to Senior Management
The Directors that are in charge of people should spend at least 10-15 minutes a day walking the floor and interacting with their agents to get to know them and the issues they deal with concerning why consumer are calling. Just one way to get feedback from the agents. Just my perspective.
Pros
Company strives to be better, but still is in a silo mode of functioning. Just started using SOP type meetings.
Cons
IT systems not up to date and not user friendly
Advice to Senior Management
Have goals for each area that do not conflict with other departments. Need to be cohesive
Pros
understanding of the business make you a better persone, they have good concept to be applied to other industries
Cons
beside not paid overtime, no comments
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Great location. An upgrade in the bulding with the move from Charlotte, NC to Augusta, GA. Co-workers were generally great to work with on a personal level.
Cons
Where do I start. Hostile work environment seems like a good place. I was bullied, harrassed, lied to and about, and intimidated by my first manager. After complaining numerous times, the situation was "taken care of". I was told that this person was too valuable to the company so they didn't fire him, just took away his manager title and moved him over a couple of rows. Communication is lacking all around. Upper management doesn't talk to middle management which leads to no communication to the people in the trenches. If you're a mind reader, you'll do great here. Little to no information is given when asked to complete tasks and when you do complete something, little to no feedback is given (good or bad). A general sense of "CYA" pervades here and team work doesn't seem to matter. Overall my experience with Electrolux has been horrible. I'm in the process of looking for a new job and hope to be able to give my notice soon. While, I'll miss some of the people that I work with, I won't miss the unbelievable amount of stress you're required to carry to work for this company.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen, just listen, to the people who are actually doing the work. I'm not trying to say that managers are dumb, or don't know anything, but sometimes the people actually doing the day to day activities have innovative and helpful solutions to business issues.
Pros
Good place to work. Opportunities for change/propmotion
Cons
Company politics. Cooporation of upper management
Pros
Benefits, and a job in a bad economy. Lots of work to keep you busy while on shift.
Cons
A Seniority based system where the least competent and capable among employees have a better shot at moving up in the company, than the best and the brightest.
This location is non union (which is a good thing in my opinion.)
However, they cling to the one fundamental basis by which union based companies run into the ground. SENIORITY!
This business location is one of the very few left in the U.S.A. where someone with neither a base level of physical or intellectual ability can move up the ranks to a supervisory position, ahead of someone with a good educational background and a solid work ethic.
This results in a bureaucratic monolith where mediocrity is the rule and not the exception.
In my experience, the best and brightest folks are shuffled around like hot potatoes, while a political system based on "it's not my problem" rules the day.
As a result, it's not at all unusual to see (especially on first shift) 30% of all employees standing idle, while another 15% either quit out of frustration, or get fired because they are perceived as a threat by supervisors or associate supervisors.
Many....MANY people in positions of responsibility at this location have the intellectual ability of a 14 year old child.
Advice to Senior Management
Set your standards higher in human resources, and all your other resources will rise as well.
An old saying in the U.S.A. is...........
"A rising tide raises all boats".
Make hard work, intelligent processes, and a genuine concern about quality, your minimum standard.
No level of EMS or other "gear" programs will compensate for incompetent middle management.
Pros
It maybe a good place for a graduate to start where requirements are little more than very hard work. It certainly provides a view from a relatively safe position into a world of total disorganization and chaos. How not to run a company.
Cons
No organization. No workable process. Information and work direction comes by trickle down. No effective communication paths vertically or horizontally. Many senior and middle management positions held by individuals with no effective skills but using the opaqueness and chaos that exists to hide their own inadequacies. An organization therefore totally against change and process improvement.
Advice to Senior Management
A fundamental change in management culture is required starting at the top of the organization in the USA. A clear leadership call for the institution of workable processes focused on continuous improvement and transparency. A rigorous cleaning-out of all incompetent and closed minded middle management. This company will fail at the hands of more progressive and healthy North American and Asian companies who have already embraced 21st century management philosophies.
Pros
This can be a great place to work for self starters and result oriented people. Its an open environment with few offices.
Cons
A strange combination of chaos and bureaucracy. Internal culture can be a bit brutal depending on department. Sometimes directions change too much too quickly.
Advice to Senior Management
keep moving things in the right direction. get the brands sorted out. Develop the culture while maintaining urgency where necessary
