Loved helping to improve gamer's evperience. Great opportunities to network in the field. Fun fast paced environment.

    Cons

Highly beurocratic and structured environment. Slightly stresful with communication breakdowns with other offices and company functional unite. Very siloed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut back on the siloed business units, and let the testers do what they need to do to make the product better.

Former Employee - QA Tester in Baton Rouge, LA

I worked at Electronic Arts full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

There is a week of paid training. The hours are steady and there can be a lot of optional overtime. The environment is fun and casual, but remains productive and goal oriented. The sky is the limit, from basic contractor work all the way to being employed by EA directly.

    Cons

Most start as contract work through a separate entity that works with EA. This management will sometimes force people onto the three month furlough depending on what time of the year their contract is to end.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a serious break between the testing center in Baton Rouge and the development group in Tiburon.

I worked at Electronic Arts full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

work hard--play hard. Great environment for creative, smart like-minded people.

    Cons

In a creative environment the work-like balance can be a challenge to achieve--that is especially true at EA. There is always a lot of pressure to complete projects that are on extremely aggressive timelines. Ownership is highly regarded but there will always be multiple inputs from executive layers that make it impossible to "own". Thin-skinned, overly-sensitive type personalities will not be happy working at EA.

Current Employee - Business Analyst in Maitland, FL
Current Employee - Business Analyst in Maitland, FL

I have been working at Electronic Arts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This organization and industry is extremely fun to work for! Fast paced evolution of systems and processes is a business analyst/project managers dream environment. All resources are collaborative.

The management system is designed to allow for personal development of subordinates and ultimately career growth for those that aspire for such growth.

Work life balance is highly valued. For example, vacations, medical appointments and exercise are all highly encouraged activities. It is the norm for people to take an hour and a half lunch to go workout.

    Cons

So many brilliant developers are given ability to develop solutions/tools to meet their immediate needs creating a challenge for central teams to support all of the disparate tech and processes.
Very liquid reporting structure which has many benefits but creates a bit of uncertainty for people who like predictability.
