Pros
Work/Life balance is favorable and salary is competitive for the area.
Cons
Job Security is currently low.
Pros
Commitment to diversity. Great products and pipeline. Respect for employees. Ethical company. Good salary and promotion opportunities. Strong benefit package. Headquartered in Indianapolis, which is a great Midwestern city with a lot to offer and a good cost of living.
Cons
Like most large companies, Lilly can get bogged down with process and bureaucracy. Sometimes, decisions can take longer than they should to be made. Also, to reach certain levels of the company, one would need to move to Indianapolis. While it's a great city, not all are able to move here.
Advice to Senior Management
Make decisions more quickly without needing so many pilots or six sigma projects. Mistakes will be made, but it's worth the risk to get more things going. Continue the great job you are doing with regards to diversity and respect for people.
Pros
Great benefits, good salaries, good people, great working environment.
Cons
Very political, not much opportunity to move up as they are in an outsourcing mode. It it not what you know but who you know that get you ahead. IVY Leaguers got it made.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat everyone with respect and see them for what they bring to the table not who they socialize with.
Pros
Decent compensation for early in a career.
Opportunities for career advancement.
Cons
MDs don't have time to see reps anymore
Pharmaceutical industry is no longer a "long term" career move
Big brother is constantly monitoring the "check the box" model
Pros
Job at Eli Lilly is relatively stable.
Cons
Employee's performance management is one direction only for most of employees----depending on supervisor's personal opinions even if they are not fair or objective.
Pros
Good total compensation package. The company is a good place to work because it is working to truly improve the lives of people around the world
Cons
Revenue losses have translated into many cutbacks of people. Less work is getting done and morale in IT has plummetted as more and more people get cut loose
Advice to Senior Management
Better find some new products before it is too late.
Pros
Pay & benefits are the best around. Lilly only hires the best out of schools so if you are not academically challenged you will love this place. There is no doubt that making pharmaceuticals is not a simple process and this company does strive to do it the very best.
Cons
All those intellectuals never get anything done! They simply debate things ad infinitum.
Management doesn't run things. They allow the "geniuses" to run things and never question them.
Politics and cliques rule.
Advice to Senior Management
The company has had it so good for so long; now that changes are necessary, there is a rock hard set of long-time employess in middle management that isn't going to change and jeopardize their retirement.
The outsourcing is not going to be the savior of the company in the long run. Don't do it just because every other company is.
Pros
-Job flexibility
-profession growth opps
-training
-compensation
-company car
-networking
Cons
-manager can make or break your experience
Pros
good place to work. Large
Cons
to large. Get lost. too far
Pros
The company showes respect for employees.
Cons
The company has too much bureacracy.
Advice to Senior Management
The company would benefit from streamlining processes.
