    Pros

Good total compensation package. The company is a good place to work because it is working to truly improve the lives of people around the world

    Cons

Revenue losses have translated into many cutbacks of people. Less work is getting done and morale in IT has plummetted as more and more people get cut loose

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better find some new products before it is too late.

I have been working at Eli Lilly

    Pros

Work-Family balance; good benefits; reward and recognition; opportunities and challenges

    Cons

Like other companies, going through difficult times, which is impacting employee morale. Loss of jobs, but company does more than just hand a pink slip. Starting to rely too much on outsoucing, losing talent and knowledge base.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Outsoucing is not always the answer. It can save money, but it causes the knowledge to be lost. Vendors don't have the same stake in the company as employees, usually causing more time to get simple tasks completed and more red tape.

    I worked at Eli Lilly

    Pros

Great training, great managers (all mine were at least), strong name presence
Open communication, give alot of independence on running your territory

    Cons

Nothing really about the company, it's the environment that's a little challenging with offices refusing to accept calls, difficult access to the doctors.

I have been working at Eli Lilly

    Pros

    Access to leadership
Training in marketing excellence and principles
    Ability to impact the business
    Good overall compensation package

    Cons

    Bureaucracy
Tough place to achieve work-life balance but you can if you try
Not the most entrepreneurial place to work
Sometimes not the friendliest place to be

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open it up for innovation from below rather than directives from the top. I know this is happening but must primarily be accomplished through actions by leadership to remove roadblocks and change entrenched attitudes about this vs. talking about this and challenging employees to change when many are shut down when offering new, different ideas from what has been done traditionally.

    I worked at Eli Lilly

    Pros

The benefits and relocation packages are great, until you file your taxes, be very careful with that. All kinds of little psychological tests to manipulate through the process, be aware or be gone.

    Cons

There is a very inbred mentality going all the way back to Eli himself. Self sacrifice is a given, what less would a Civil War hero demand. However, I sometimes wondered whose side he was on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the science back into this company or it will fail in our lifetimes. It's just so completely number and business oriented now - but you need a certain critical mass of 1. Science and 2. Honesty

    I worked at Eli Lilly

    Pros

Respect for people and opportunities to grow in multiple professional areas and make contributions.

    Cons

Lately, the environment has become very short term focused with looming patent expirations. The senior leadership hasn't been able to fill the pipeline gap and some of the executives are bringing on people just like them so that no one can challenge them. Takes too long to make any decision.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on results and cut bonuses at the VP level until some new medicines are launched!

    I worked at Eli Lilly

    Pros

the company is very good with allowing vacation/personal days, well recognized employer in a respectable industry, company car, free lunch

    Cons

the immediate manager had no work/life balance and therefore didn't allow the employees to have it either. sales numbers lie and that's what you're being compensated on. promotions are biased.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

management needs more communication with employees, the company's IT systems are outdated, they say they care but they really don't,
