    Pros

Great / educated work force and ample opportunities to see a wide range of projects and different areas in the business.

    Cons

Upward career progression is slow given the businesses lack of production from its product pipeline - i.e. they are not in growth mode at the current time.

    Advice to Management

Seems to be a number of individuals in the finance function that moved up the chain during the boom years (zyprexa/prozac) - who are more worried about job security than steamlining the organization - need to put more pressure on those who aren't performing.

It has been useful as a stepping stone in my career; I would never consider trying to retire from there.

    Pros

Excellent salaries and bonus levels. Excellent resources and generally an ability to do things your way (can only speak for a lab setting). Perfect for someone with a family.

    Cons

The current senior management (like those before them in the past 15 years) is driving this company into the ground. Layoffs are still occurring and can only be expected to get worse when Zyprexa loses its patent later this year. They are also leaving $billions in revenue on the table because they feel that as a company, it is below the to compete in the generic arena.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating everyone at the company like they are dumb. When you are finally bought out and gutted, it will be obvious who the fools were.

    Pros

Competitive financial compensation, great health benefits (of course, they're a drug company), flexibility of work hours, ability to treat the job as if it's like your own business, company car, GAS CARD, travel incentives.

    Cons

Robotic senior management that likes to pass on that mentality to their sales reps, opportunity for advancement is very limited, narrow product pipeline.

    Advice to Management

Listen, listen, listen to your field reps! It is understandable that there is proper protocol to follow but there are times when "creativity" bust be thrown in to the sales process. There are many doctors out there who would rather talk to a "human being" rather than a robot who spits out nothing but data that is required by management.

excellent compensation and benefits for the area but only comparible for the industry. sincere respect for diversity and people in gereral.

    Cons

golden handcuffs are on a little too tight. too much dead weight from the "old days". six sigma program is a joke.

    Advice to Management

cut the dead weight loose starting with the employees in Puerto Rico. purge the irish mafia. think before you commit to agencies.

    Pros

Work and life balance including the availability of external clubs. Indy is a good low cost of living environment for raising offspring.

    Cons

Typical mgt doublespeak when it comes to end-of-year performance. Get dinged for meaningless things in order to place individuals on the curve. Best results on the curve end up with mgrs themselves.

    Advice to Management

Go out and see if you can find a job with your current skill set. See if the market place values what you supposedly have.

    Pros

Compensation is above average in Indianapolis area average in Phamaceutical areana. Plenty of opportunities to learn other business areas if put forth the effort. Senior management has always looked out for employees even during difficult times. Both a PRO & CON; Lilly is now run more like a business than it was 20 years ago.

    Cons

Like most large companies promotions & advancements can get political at times. Strong NETWORKING amd releationship building skills are a must. Pay raise / merit increase process is well definied but does not useful.

    Advice to Management

Need to implement a stronger Development Plan process so provide opportunities to those wanting to expand business knowledge and explore other avenues.

    Pros

new midwest graduates wanting big company experience

    Cons

Get ready to sink or swim on your own.

    Advice to Management

Have an objective reward and discipline system - hold bad performers accountable. Get rid of bad managers before they totally ruin a reputable company that Lilly once was.

    Pros

Big international pharma with Midwestern values; not victim of huge conglomerates; good compensation packages; conservative yet technically minded and innovative; high integrity and customer focused.

    Cons

Personal future with company is uncertain; forced lay-offs despite no decrease in work needing to be done causing high stress and overwork of those remaining; for those in IT, very limited support or encouragement of personal technical improvement.
