    Pros

Fantastic sales experience. Not extremely taxing and easy to perform well if you're willing to go the extra mile. High levels of autonomy with great access to mentorship and company resources.

    Cons

Unlike normal sales reps, your pay is not linked to your performance as it is only an internship. Everyone is trying to get ahead, and sometimes this can lead to a highly competitive environment.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, decent salary and bonus

    Cons

Middle management looking to get ahead

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked for Eli Lilly and Company for 34 years, retiring in 2013. The reason I left is because middle management was not working to advance the pipeline or employees who reported to them but rather was working to advance their own careers at the expense of the pipeline and employees who reported to them. I saw numerous examples of middle management pointing the finger at others when it was their own mismanagement that resulted in timeline delays as well as using information authored by their subordinates as their own so they could personally advance. The sad part is, no one above middle management ever did anything to correct these behaviors of middle management. In the past, we all worked together, as a team, for the good of the company, which then benefited everyone. Middle management now expects to do nothing themselves but advance through the hard-work of others. It is definitely killing the company that formerly was known for its outstanding work ethic.
