I worked at Elie Tahari as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The supervisors you work beneath are very friendly and teach you many different skills to know in the future. Very Hands-on and you are responsible for a lot of mini-projects. Many people are very friendly and are willing to help you.

    Cons

Many workers are friendly but there are one or two that can be a little catty (especially in the sales department). The people in the corporate office seem to also hate their job and dread working at Elie Tahari, so it was hard trying to adjust to the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a little more friendly to the workers and maybe they would love their job working at Elie Tahari.

Good intro into the fashion industry.

I worked at Elie Tahari (less than a year)

    Pros

Very good introduction into the fast-paced world of the fashion industry. Perfect location, beautiful office. Overall, the employees were quite friendly.

    Cons

Very high turnover rate. It's hard to get to know a company and a position when everyone around you is leaving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take everyone in the company more seriously and treat them with more respect.

I have been working at Elie Tahari full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Close-knit staff generally. It's great creating that family-friend environment with the team. Great work/life balance (if you're not the manager). Clothing allowance is GREAT, if you like the clothes. My husband loved that I could basically get free clothes through work and I never had to drag him around shopping.

    Cons

Upper management is horrid. Area and regional managers claim they're always there for you when you encounter problem yet get irritated when you call or email with a question that they believe to be stupid and common sense. Oh, and if you want a promotion or raise, you can forget that! They don't believe in yearly raises, and if you want a promotion be ready to relocate to another state.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to value your employees and encourage ownership! Stop driving out the hard working employees who actually care and keep the push over, robotic employees who can't think for themselves.

I have been working at Elie Tahari full-time

    Pros

Establishing a strong relationship with multiple vendors.
    Immediate co-workers were amicable
    Decent hours

    Cons

Lack of leadership and proper communication, often times resulting in delayed shipments. Plenty of yelling from higher ups when issues arose. Overall a very hostile environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR should council everyone on proper office communication

I have been working at Elie Tahari full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent Clothing Allowance, but then again not really when there is nothing to choose from during 4th quarter.

    Cons

Poor upper management. Left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. No support out in the stores. Extreme lack of direction. No company mission. They work good people into the ground and out the door and keep people who should have been fired within their first 30 days. Lowest paying retailer out there. Too much to even go into.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either close your doors or start over! The company is being mismanaged. Value your people who do care and who do a great job and get rid of the ones who live in their ivory towers and just like to hear themselves talk. Set up an HR department that people can actually go to confidentially.

I have been working at Elie Tahari full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The employees in the NJ office are warm and friendly, makes it worth your day to work there.

    Cons

There has been no raises for 4 years, if you do a good job you get more work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop nitpicking about everything, don't treat your employees with hostility and stop talking down to the people that work for you, more ethics and respect is needed towards employees.

I worked at Elie Tahari part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It is an intimate space and sales associates can learn the logistics of receiving merchandise, clienteling, and sales. Staff is very friendly and not super competitive. Management is nice and encouraging. Clothing Allowance.

    Cons

Was with the company over a year and they did not give anyone a raise.
The company isn't in its best state so making commission is impossible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raises need to be implemented in the structure.

I worked at Elie Tahari full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Clothing allowance and beautiful product. Definitely gain a lot of experience if you are a self starter and do not need much guidance.

    Cons

Very negative environment where you see hard working coworkers unappreciated and demeaned. The company has lost some really great people as a result of upper management. Turnover is rampant!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People work for people and these are not people you want to work for.

I worked at Elie Tahari part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The clothing allowance that's given to you every 6 months and the environment was always a team effort to make company goals.

    Cons

Part time workers are put below full time workers if needed any time off. In my experience it might have been the store manager that never was on top of getting a full staff which made us overwork.

I have been working at Elie Tahari

    Pros

It is a very small store with only 6 workers at all. Each of us learn how to work the register, talk to corporate employers, build relationships with clients and how to run a store.

    Cons

It sometimes is hard to work in a place with only 6 employees. Vacations and days requested off don't always happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's always good to keep relationships with your clients and the employees at other stores. Whenever you are in trouble or don't understand something you can call a store and they can walk you through the steps without going to higher up.
