Pros
The employees are wonderful. I was there 24 yrs until I became disabled. But times are a changing and I am glad I am no longer them. Not all change is bad but not all change is good either.
Cons
Too much money spent on "programs" to improve our attitude and preformance. None of which is very effective in the long run.
Advice to Senior Management
Encouragement is so helpful. No we don't always do our jobs perfecly. But on the other hand it isn't all negative either. The attitude that they have to find fault with something you do isn't a moral booster.
Pros
Team players, good support system, benefits, flexible schedule. Now? Can't think of a one.
Cons
They lead you to believe that dedication & hard work means a lot, offer you a false sense of security. it's not about the employees OR the patients anymore, it's about the almighty $$. This will be their demise. OnceEGHCS is SOLD ( I dont care HOW they want to word it ), and they lose the President w/strong Christian values? oh yah, they're toast. It's sad, i've been an employee for almost a quarter century, and NO one could've told me they'd turn us out. Yet we wonder why people have no dedication/loyalty/ these days? I understand now. It's because it means nothing.

Good Luck!!!
Pros
Theres job security in the medical field.
Cons
The management needs to be more hands on.
Advice to Senior Management
I think they need to be more thankful for the job we do.
Pros
Elkhart has wonderful staff members. The non-management staff is exceptionally knowledgable, helpful, and hard-working.
With all of it's remodeling, Elkhart now has some very beautiful rooms.
Cons
Mandating is most definitely at the top. The staff members frequently work 16 hour shifts. Most then turn around and come back in less than 8 hours later to work again. What is most hurtful though, is the attitude of management. It seems like all they care about is money, not their workers. We hear work harder and keep their costs down, with little incentive to the worker. I found their education boards by the pharmacy most interesting. Elkhart no longer rewards staff for advances in education, but in the staff member's ability to save the institution money.
Advice to Senior Management
Give the staff a break! Have management take a paycut, all of the "little guys" are suffering. Even more though, get down in the trenches with us. The manager I respect the most is the manger of Cat Scan. I have lost count of all the times I have seen him transport patients to and from Cat scan, simply because his staff was overwhelmed. Come and work with us. Help us. All we seem to hear from management is work harder and work cheaper.
