I have been working at Ellumen full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting technical work / problems to solve

Very generous in compensation and benefits / bonuses possible

Flexible WRT work location, and to some extent, schedule allowing people to integrate work into their lives

    Great group of people

    Cons

    Can be chaotic

    Can be overly demanding

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find the optimum setting on the spectrum between
Working too many offerings with too few people such that none of the offerings is getting sufficient attention
    and
Working too few offerings such that there are too many eggs in one basket as opportunities pass you by

It's a very difficult setting to make correctly.

I have been working at Ellumen full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Outstanding benefits, good people, and a performance based culture. If there are circumstances that keep you out of the office you can work remotely so long as you're responsive and produce a.k.a. "big boy rules". I've been here several years and I couldn't be happier. There is personal and professional accountability so don't think you can "work from home" and then go catch a matinee. It's a smaller company (under 100 employees) so there's not much room to "fly under the radar"... if that's what you're looking for this might not be the best place for you. If you like to contribute, collaborate, and grow then you should talk to these guys.

    Cons

It's a small business and there's isn't much wiggle room for a bench once a project ends so the company needs to continually win new work to keep everyone engaged. As a result there are layoffs from time to time according to business needs. This is no different from any of the large integrators (Northrop, Mantech, Lockheed, etc.) There's no such thing as a permanent job anymore.

I have been working at Ellumen full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Awesome coworkers, corporate culture, rewarding mission, and great compensation and benefits. It's a growing business but individual employees still have easy access to senior leadership. Management is knowledgeable and employees have opportunities to work across and learn several areas of business if they choose.

    Cons

Since they're small process is not always defined so with growth comes some pain. Not everybody is cut out for an entrepreneurial environment and some employees need more structure to be successful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More communications relating to current endeavors, company goals, and corporate outlook would be great

    I worked at Ellumen

    Pros

    Company has very good benifits

    Cons

Ellumen has layed off 1/3 of their employees in the last few months. Horrible company to work for..... Employees quit few weeks later after being hired. Program Manager doesn't know what she is doing.

I have been working at Ellumen full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Engineers/Developers/Testers/Analysts are amazing. The Ellumen Board Members are knowledgeable.

    Cons

Ellumen Management and workflow is unorganized. It is hard for work-life balance. Management promises 40 hour work weeks but realistically employees see 45+ hours a week. Redundancy efforts on a weekly basis - directed down from management. Uncertainty over future of the company. Large employee turnover. Employees always talking about how management is unorganized and how much of the work is out of scope. When issues arise, management starts pointing fingers at employees to offset the blame.

I have been working at Ellumen full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Dedicated team of professionals with a results oriented culture. Employees have tremendous flexibility with respect to their schedule so long as the work product is quality and the customer's remain happy. The mission is to improve healthcare for veterans, the military, and their families so the work itself can be highly rewarding as well. Core office hours are 10AM- 3PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday... Wednesday is a remote work day for most of the team.

    Cons

The company is growing so fast that individual work spaces can get cramped at the corporate HQ.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan more team building events, we're growing so fast it's hard to keep track of all the new faces.

I have been working at Ellumen

    Pros

They are a government contractor in the Health care Industry. This had provide them with many government contracts in the past and in the future.

    Cons

They needs to have a way to training new employee. This is one of the biggest reason why I was not able to excel in their company.
