Loved my job

Resident Care Assistant (Former Employee)

I worked at Elmcroft Assisted Living full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat co-workers, residents, and pay

ConsManagement could care less if you have an issue, directors do not answer phones when in state of emergency.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some younger people into the management, the older directors are stuck in their ways.

Residents made this position worth it

Community Relations Director (Former Employee)

I worked at Elmcroft Assisted Living full-time for more than 3 years

ProsContact and caring for the residents and their family members made the job with while.

ConsPoor leadership from directors and regional directors. Regional would come to community and nit pick every little thing...the paint, the parking lot....instead of listening to the staffs ideas and implementing things that could make work and care better.

Advice to Senior Managementyou don't know everything.....the staff are the ones that have the answer

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Elmcroft needs help

Resident Assistant (Current Employee)
Sagamore Hills, OH

I have been working at Elmcroft Assisted Living full-time for less than a year

ProsThe residents are great. My coworkers work together when needed

ConsLack of staff, residents live in assisted living that should be in skilled or nursing homes, management doesn't care about staff, management gossips about other workers, refuse to listen to complaints or changes about residents

Advice to Senior ManagementListen and acknowledge when there is a problem and fix it. They should have more training

Elmcroft in Grand Rapids sucks

Executive Director (Current Employee)
Grand Rapids, MI

I have been working at Elmcroft Assisted Living full-time for more than a year

ProsYou get an opportunity to meet people.

ConsPeople refuse to help others if you are not part of their clique. They will fire you for no reason. You will come to work only to find out you no longer have a job. People love to gossip and they are backstabbers. No one is your friend.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement need to encourage team work.

My personal experience was a mixture of reward and heartache.

Community Relations Director (Former Employee)
Mountain Home, AR

I worked at Elmcroft Assisted Living full-time for more than 5 years

ProsI found the opportunity of working with the elderly extremely rewarding. The multiple lifetimes of experience to listen to and learn from was invaluable. Protecting and caring for these precious people was heartwarming.

ConsOn a corporate level the concern is more about numbers and dollars than the residents and employees.
If you have concerns about the abilities of or differences with the Community Director, there is no way to have it addressed.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide a way for local concerns to be brought to Regional Management or even higher without fear of reprecussion.

Exhausted

Executive Director (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at Elmcroft Assisted Living full-time for more than a year

ProsThey seem to care. No problems with the Support Center as they want to help you.

ConsLack of support from Regional team and Upper Management. They are to focus on programming and trying to be something before they are able to do so. Back off on getting awards and recgonition and focus on the communities who focus on the residents. They say make the associates happy and make your regionals happy while you remain miserable because no one recognizes you for your endless hours and hard work.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep check on your regional management as they bring outside resources from competitors to guide the directors and communities. They do not show the "Elmcroft Way"

Terrible management, Too Much Nepotism!!!

Resident Assistant (Former Employee)
Knoxville, TN

I worked at Elmcroft Assisted Living

ProsThe Alzheimer's unit has the most wonderful residents and caring, compassionate staff. Serving the residents is quite an enjoyable experience!

ConsThe pay was a joke, and the management promoted family members and friends before assessing longer term employees and harder working employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay More Attention To Employee Needs and Concerns!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Not a healthy place to work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Raleigh, NC

I worked at Elmcroft Assisted Living

ProsExcellent benefit package
Salary in line with competitors

ConsNo room for advancement
Facility not attractive
No advanced education/training provided
Like other larger assisted living companies, Elmcroft operates with a Regional Director of Operations and a Regional Director of Sales/Marketing. They do not have a clue as to the actual issues and problems within the facility. Conference calls are a joke.

Advice to Senior ManagementLISTEN to employee complaints and try to rectify situations over which you have some control. Hire GOOD CNAs and TRAIN. Treat employees with respect. Provide additional education and training for employees who wish to advance..

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
