I worked at Eloqua full-time for more than a year

    Pros

What a wonderful place to work hard with other hard working people. The organizations "get it done, do it right" mentality is spot on. The bar is set high and the easiest route to meeting goals is not deemed acceptable. The effort put into enablement and knowledge share has been wonderful.

    Cons

Working at Eloqua has been a great experience, however as with most midsize, quickly growing companies you must chart your own career path and create opportunity for yourself to grow.

I have been working at Eloqua full-time

    Pros

Very relaxed environment with a great work\life balance. Working with some really smart individuals is always a plus. Eloqua’s hiring process makes sure they’re always bringing in people who are making, not only the company better, but the people around them better. Great individuals who are always willing to help out others and interested in learning more. Adoption of new technologies is good. Some employees also are involved in various software development communities outside the office which is very beneficial for bringing in new ideas.
Despite the Oracle acquisition, many of the start-up aspects of Eloqua stayed. Open work environment, various games in the office to help break up the monotony, fruit comes in weekly, snacks and drinks always available. In addition to all this, Oracle’s benefits are very nice.

    Cons

Since the Oracle acquisition, some of the excitement that a start-up usually has seems to have dissipated. Oracle has done a poor job keeping talent and seems to be getting in its own way of hiring talent. These cons are relatively minor compared to all the benefits so no stars are taken off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the excitement seems to have gone away after the Oracle acquisition. I believe senior management in Toronto, and those in Oracle who can help, need to help bring this back. Continue hiring and find a way to bring in the employees who would normally work at start-ups to bring in the talent that Eloqua has always had. Keep up the adoption of new technologies.

    Pros

Good product, like the office snacks too

    Cons

Terrible culture - even worse since the Oracle acquisition. Feel bad for new employees juts getting started. The glory days are long gone. I don't understand the acquisition model - people and culture are what makes a company, why get rid of everyone?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All have found new jobs. We need leadership!

I worked at Eloqua full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You will find many passionate Eloquans that work collaboratively to ensure customer success. Coworkers are willing to help each other out regardless of position

    Cons

You will need to find a work life balance for yourself. Work from home and flexible hours help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more from within the organization and create career paths to retain talent.

I worked at Eloqua full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most customers love Eloqua and the employees all work to common goal of keeping them happy and excited to be a customer.

    Cons

The people that support the customer are underpaid. Very conservative in how they make big decisions. The Oracle acquisition will make life hard for many because a very large percentage of Eloqua customers are also SFDC customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do everything you can to maintain a healthy relationship with the other CRM vendors.

I have been working at Eloqua full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Pretty cool culture: very collaborative
Most of the people are very smart, motivated and passionate
Invest a lot into professional development

    Cons

    Communication could be better
Motto is "get it done, do it right," but some people seem to get away with things that aren't "right."
Money isn't great. Not terrible, but on the low side of average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more communication to really understand who your employees are and what they bring to the table. Felt like I wasn't listened to when I raised some fairly serious issues, even after I presented evidence that the issue existed.

I have been working at Eloqua full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I've read all the reviews here and to be quite honest, I'm a bit confused by them. Perhaps there is a difference in departments, but for developers? It's highly unlikely you can find a better position to boost your career. Here's why...

    * Super selective hiring process; Eloqua will wait as long as needed to find top talent.
    * Commitment to new technologies (e.g. Git, Jira, etc) means never using deprecated tools.
    * Get to develop a product used by Apple, Adobe, Rosetta Stone, and much, much more...
    * A fast growing and a market dominating product means ACTUAL career growth potential.
    * Competitive pay, fantastic stock options, and pretty well-assured job stability.

Don't let some of the negative reviews fool you. If you just do some simple research on Google, you'll find that despite being the top of its industry for years, Eloqua has continued to skyrocket well above expectations. It's a demanding atmosphere her yes, but you just can't get that level of success in an organization where everyone isn't excited about what they do. That's Enterprise Development 101.

    Cons

Many have mentioned the very rough work/life balance here. A couple have also mentioned the heavy demands and workload here as well. In all honesty though, if not someone who thrives in a fairly demanding, fast-paced environment, perhaps Eloqua isn't for you to begin with.

Now that's not to say that Eloqua is totally unreasonable about their expectations -- if you have life / family concerns that you'll need to take care of? People here will be more than willing to work with you. We all have lives as well. But what's important, however, is that you can still be relied upon to completely you work at the end of the day.

    I worked at Eloqua

    Pros

    Great people
    Innovative company
    Industry leading best practices
    Outstanding learning opportunities
    Fun corporate culture
    Competitive yet effective working environment
    Lots of opportunity for growth

    Cons

    High expectations of success
    Strong personalities which occasionally clash
    Lots of responsibility
Multiple office locations requiring monthly travel
It is not a 9-5 job - no one goes home until the day's work is done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to be competitive against Marketo. Make necessary changes to head count and budget to ensure there are enough Eloqua troops on the ground - especially in marketing - to outmatch Marketo's efforts.
Also, continue to enable and empower brand advocates. They are the key to continued success and to maintaining Eloqua's position as an industry leader.

    I worked at Eloqua

    Pros

They provide great learning opportunities to become an expert in Marketing Automation. A great chance to network with industry experts and subject matter experts.

    Cons

Too much management shuffling and bad decisions made during a key growth phase around new hires. There was a phase where the sales team grew too fast and then 50% of the sales team was fired, and 25% across all other depts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make better hiring decisions. Provide better opportunities for your employees (particularly in services) if you don't want to keep losing great people to Eloqua partners.
