Pros
This was a good place to start working. Tried to be very team orientated. I liked the yearly review and the bonuses that came with it.
Cons
Some people are angry, its hard to deal with people everyday who do not love their jobs. You definitely feel like you are just a number after a certain amount of time.

Pros
allowed you to work without being closely supervised. Tried to communicate with the people
Cons
remote locations was not communicated with as sufficiently
Advice to Senior Management
need to have more personnel training issues at the upper levels
Pros
Everyone is very nice, very competent , and will work hard to help you achieve your goals. As I was an intern, I did not have as much experience as others, but it was still a good experience.
Cons
Downsizing -- that is the major downside of working at Embarq. They just completed a merger and core group members were being laid off left and right. It is a real problem -- no job security.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop downsizing! Core competencies are being lost and the smartest people are leaving in droves! This makes it so that no one wants to stay!
Pros
Work Life Balance, People, Location
Cons
There really isn't anything I would complain about.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't sell to Centurytel!
Pros
Very professional, flexible with work/life balance, room to advance, great benefits, friendly co-workers and managers, tuition reimbursement, decent recognition, seemed fair. So many more to list.
Cons
Not really anything bad to say other than the number of re-orgs which seems to be the norm. Re-orgs made sense however placed some in positions they were not qualified to be in.
Advice to Senior Management
None really. Since the company was sold and only a handful of employees remain at the "old" headquarters, it would have been nice to see the execs do more for the employees based in the KC metro area when it came to the sale.
Pros
Very good team of employees, great people to work around. Very flexible environment, good benefit packages. Overall a good place to work at.
Cons
Since the merger with CenturyTel things have not been communicated clearly, a lot of employees are visibly not satisfied and are looking for change
Advice to Senior Management
Since the merger the mood in the company has changes towards the negative. Communication from senior leadership has not been trickling down as expected.
Pros
Compensation, work environment, professional coworkers, work / life balance, high tech projects, work was evaluated in two categories annually (either you did the job or did not).
Cons
Very political, constant organizational and process changes, departments don't work well together, not much opportunity for advancement if you're not on the fast track.
Advice to Senior Management
No
Pros
They did pay well. Though based on their website they have dropped the starting pay rate significantly for the new techs coming in.
Cons
Extreme micro-management and absolutely no regard for work/life balance. I was seriously told in the same monthly review that I was one of their best techs, my customer feedback score was excellent, and that I was on disciplinary probation because of my QA scores. My mistake was treating customers as individuals instead of following the checklist that often had nothing to do with the customer's problem.
You did not get your schedule until a week in advance. You did not know what days of the week you were working, let alone what hours. You could work first shift one day and second shift the next. It was completely impossible to schedule anything personal. And when you did get a day off, they would call you on your day off and demand you be there within two hours or risk losing your job. They did that to me once, when they knew I was going on vacation in another state. I managed to not get fired only after reminding them I was hundreds of miles away, and had informed them of this before I left.
Advice to Senior Management
Realize that employees, and customers, are human beings not cattle. A little respect goes a long way.
Pros
Empowered to manage your business and make decisions on your own.
Cons
No longer empowered with decision making authority. Almost all decisions no matter how trivial seem to have to be approved by the CEO.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow your employees to run thier business as needed. Trust them and pay them fairly.
Pros
Well the base pay was good and the commission was excellent especially if you were a good seller benefits were very-very good. Had all sorts of flexible time but only in the call center.
Cons
Mangers were never satisfied with selling only way to have a stress free day is if you sell early and meet the quota, managers preferred sellers who were immoral and added more to the sale to increase their sales.
Advice to Senior Management
Well get rid of contracts lower your fees for long distance, also try to get rid of all the scam that goes on in the 3rd party charges.
