    Pros

Embarq was a great place to work. The people were wonderful. Leadership (except for the CEO) was top notch.

    Cons

The CEO and BOD sold out the employees to CenturyLink. CL culture was a sweat-shop where employees are not valued.

    I worked at Embarq

    Pros

Very professional, flexible with work/life balance, room to advance, great benefits, friendly co-workers and managers, tuition reimbursement, decent recognition, seemed fair. So many more to list.

    Cons

Not really anything bad to say other than the number of re-orgs which seems to be the norm. Re-orgs made sense however placed some in positions they were not qualified to be in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None really. Since the company was sold and only a handful of employees remain at the "old" headquarters, it would have been nice to see the execs do more for the employees based in the KC metro area when it came to the sale.

    Pros

opportunity to advance is limited, but if you do your job you are rewarded financially. Management is not always responsive to requests and follow up is needed

    Cons

very corporate, call center work can be boring and supervisors can be erratic in their style and expectations of employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

standardize the management style, personality issues can create a poor work environment and can ceated unnecessary tension between co-workers and peers

    Former Employee - Intern

    I worked at Embarq

    Pros

Everyone is very nice, very competent , and will work hard to help you achieve your goals. As I was an intern, I did not have as much experience as others, but it was still a good experience.

    Cons

Downsizing -- that is the major downside of working at Embarq. They just completed a merger and core group members were being laid off left and right. It is a real problem -- no job security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop downsizing! Core competencies are being lost and the smartest people are leaving in droves! This makes it so that no one wants to stay!
