    I worked at Embassy Suites

    Pros

Professionalism with hospitality towards employees as well as guests. Everyone from the top manager to the dishwasher are treated as equally as valued team members. Some of the best benefits available. Generous employee, family, & friends discounts for all Hilton properties. The pros never stop.

    Cons

The challenges of working here are energizing - accommodating hundreds of guests and even thousands in the convention center is demanding, but exhilarating and service minded people actually feel good about accomplishing these works with pride.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

The management team are a great group of people. Even the general manager has been known to get down on his knees to clean up the floor right along side of the staff. (I have a great deal of respect for someone who will get their hands dirty even when they aren't required to) The managers are very professional and respectful of the employees.

Monthly meetings, with the entire staff invited to attend, are all about giving back to the the employees and acknowledging their hard work. They include awards, birthdays, anniversaries, updates on what's going on.... all while you eat a nice hot buffet meal on the house. They also have special events like the summer picnic and the Christmas party.

Working for the Embassy Suites has cool perks, like getting reduced rates on hotels within the Hilton family.

Overall, it's a great company to work for. They definitely believe that a happy employee is not only more productive but is able to offer excellent customer service which then makes the clients want to return and refer others. Smart!

    Cons

Renovation sucked! But it was necessary and really made a difference in business once completed.

I have been working at Embassy Suites

    Pros

The team of mgmt. that I work for runs the tightest ship I have ever seen. (40 yrs. experience) They know what they are doing, they know what you are doing, they know every trick, and they legitimately try to do the best job possible. All the while, maintaining a pleasant, above board, friendly, place to work.
They are respectful of all employees, and while they do not have the best or newest facility, or furnishings, they really try to hit a happy balance for all concerned. Guests, employees, and themselves.
Most of the employees have been there for decades. It's really unbelievable. It's like finding a married couple who has been together for 50 years. Just a lot to think about.

    Cons

Not too much on the down side. Some of the employees who have been there for decades have a sort
of entitled attitude, which makes it a little unpleasant for the new employees. Mgmt assumes that they are always doing what they are supposed to be doing, which is not always the case. They kind of have a little club going....it doesn't intimidate me. I call them on the things that they know better about, or know they should be doing differently. Doesn't make me too popular. But if you don't nip it in the bud they will treat you like crap every opportunity. Sort of like "just the hotel business".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the old dawgs. Sometimes they are not too nice to your guests. Like they are burned out. Always complaining about each other to the newbies. All it takes to clean mildew out of the tubs and sinks is Windex and a toothbrush. Only takes a minute. Squirt it on, wipe it off. Rinse. It takes more than 18 minutes to clean a stayover room and it takes more than 30 minutes to clean a check out.
Think out of the box. Just because the hotel industry has done something the same way for 200 years, does not make it right. And buy a vacuum cleaner with a hose for cripes sake. No wonder you can't get the corners and the baseboards and under the beds and the nightstands. People and corporations are spending a fortune to send their employees out of town. For the money they spend, they should get pristine accomodations. You know in the future, there won't be as much travel. Better capture it now!
