    Pros

Every employee is empowered to "make it right" however they see fit and are completely supported by their peers and management.

    Cons

The hotels are being sold out to big corps, but staying under Hilton's flagship. Management seems either unsure and stressed, or oblivious and unconcerned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your internal customers as they focus on your external ones.

One of the best companies to work for.

    I worked at Embassy Suites

    Pros

Professionalism with hospitality towards employees as well as guests. Everyone from the top manager to the dishwasher are treated as equally as valued team members. Some of the best benefits available. Generous employee, family, & friends discounts for all Hilton properties. The pros never stop.

    Cons

The challenges of working here are energizing - accommodating hundreds of guests and even thousands in the convention center is demanding, but exhilarating and service minded people actually feel good about accomplishing these works with pride.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Kudos! Everyone is a member of an actual team! Love the employee rallies and contributions to the communities!

I worked at Embassy Suites full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I just finalized the contract with the National Narcotic Dog Detectors Association for 2013. They have chosen Laredo, Texas and the Embassy Suites Hotel as their host. This required much planning and organization with the Laredo Conventions and Visitors Bureau and tours of our great city. The entire experience was a joy!

    Cons

Becoming a all non-smoking hotel created some issues with our long term quests who smoked. It was a challenge convincing them to stay. I offered some alternatives to areas where they could smoke.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have received outstanding marks on my quarterly evaluations. Based on my past performances I received quarterly bonuses and raises. My staring pay was 35,000. and in 6 months went to 45,000. I enjoy a leadership role and the excitement and challenges that come with it. I enjoy looking at a roadblock and finding ways to break down the barriers and make a positive out of any situation.

I have been working at Embassy Suites full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Love the employees and the discounts for all Hilton hotels is amazing. We get to eat at the end of our shift.

    Cons

The pay is minimum and our tips are horrible we work very hard and are unappreciated by guest most of the time. Management nitpicks everything we do even when then know we are understaffed and expects everything to be completed in 5hrs. (It rarely gets finished) they also don't have enough equipment for us to do our jobs (plates bowls utensils etc)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more part time staff for extra help at the end of the day and so us full timers can actually call off a weekend without getting someone upset.
