I worked at Embassy Suites part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful place to work. I loved going to work in the morning and being surrounded by the interior Atrium. The General Manager was generally a really nice person and tried to get to know you. Most of the workers were educated and well mannered. Clean and inviting atmosphere.

    Cons

Hired under the pretense that I would "get my foot in the door". I was not allowed to pro-mote from a very low level position. They countered this by saying I was too valuable in my current position. I took notice that most of the better jobs were occupied by good looking, younger CSU college graduates. The older workers had overnight or back of the house positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize reliable older people for their contribution to the workforce. Recognize that they can be an ally. They live Loveland because they own homes and support this community. They are travelers and restaurant goers and have influence.

    Pros

Everyone is seemingly nice. But don't let that suck you in.

    Cons

    Everyone is out for themselves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow the rules and regulations, and administer the right punishments to any and all.

I worked at Embassy Suites full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It had a great team atmosphere. Other pro's Hilton provided a lot of opportunities to train and gain more experience.

    Cons

They cared too much about being late 2 minutes here and there. Also, they don't have much compassion when you need a little time off for your children events or sickness. Basically no work life balance at all

I have been working at Embassy Suites

    Pros

    -It's a paycheck.
-24 hours business so hours available 24/7
-hotel employee discounts (when you can find a room available)
-health benefits (although I didn't use them)

    Cons

-horrible horrible management - they promote people who are rude and selfish and arrogant not only to employees but customers aswell. Upper management does nothing when managers do something won't but will jump on lower level employees for any small thing.
-do not expect to have any time off if working nights or full time. You will be worked to the bone and given pto time that they will then go and deny every chance you try to use it.
-no holiday pay at all. They say it's because they offer a "generous pto package". It's just rediculous.
    - constantly understaffed. There should be more part time employees able to pick up days when people want off but they just don't care to train people perpetuity so they can do this.
-horrible holiday gifts. For the holidays you will receive a card and a pen that most likely was in storage for years. They do not take care of their employees dieing the holidays. They just work them unveil the hillary spirit is nonexistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your employees and evaluate your managers from time to time. If everybody in the hotel who isn't a manager has valid complaints about a person, or may be time to investigate whether that person should be a manager.

I worked at Embassy Suites part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The size of the corporation offers many chances to relocate to different locations, assuming your manager allows you to transfer.

    Cons

Entire restaurant staff had a substance abuse problem. I have seen cooks pouring whiskey into their coffee cups while on the clock and then having them yell at me when I complained about the quality and presentation of the food served. Many employees come to work hungover, high or drunk, the managers discuss growing marijuana in their homes. Very unprofessional environment.
