    Pros

New VP might make the necessary salary increases to keep GHI employees satisfied. Comfortable working environment can be hit/miss depending on your department and manager.

    Cons

Benefits were good up until the premiums and copays increased drastically for PPO. They are almost forcing you to take HMO benefits with the options they give their own employees. Salary ranges are day & night for HIP vs. GHI employees. Telecommuting is not an option and a lot of cut backs with corporate restructuring and law suits. Departments don't work together: lots of finger pointing, no one wants to accept their mistakes or make executive decisions to move forward. Executive management does not lead. Product Management doesn't communicate with the necessary departments in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

Make salary range even across the board, we merged and should be treated equally.

    Pros

Getting less and less. 1) Work life balance is pretty good (able to work from home 1-2 days a week depending on your department and direct management). 2) Location is pretty nice if you can get a desk near a window with a water view. 3) Department specific but most worker bees around the company are actually great people!! 4) Career opportunities were good (moved up the ladder myself). Do not know what the future brings.

    Cons

    1) Health benefits are worse than that of being on the Affordable Care Act. 75$ extra a month to have a working spouse that waived their insurance. In-Network deductible for PPO when you cant use HMO because of living outside the city. Doctors refusing to take the insurance. Claims do not get processed properly and you need to waste hours arguing with the dedicated claims employees. 2) Layoffs... layoffs... layoffs because EH is losing money. However, EH has $$$$ to spend on a mandatory survey that because of the results is not being released. 3) No end in sight to the blood letting.

    Advice to Management

The risk/reward calculation is swinging in the wrong direction. Recruiters are actively reaching out to find people willing to make the move. Its only a matter of time when the good people leave if something isn't done quickly and effectively (that is unless management wants to lower the headcount any way they can).

    Pros

Good benefits package, paid time off, working from home, gym on the premises, subsidized health insurance and lunch.

    Cons

The company is comprised of kingdom-like departments where the king-bosses protect their turf at all cost. The resulting atmosphere is toxic and detrimental to the company. The bosses want to hold on to their jobs as long as they can and will hold on only to the employees they like. Merit does not matter, whom you know does.

    Advice to Management

There have to be profound changes in the management for the company to have a chance of survival. The way of doing business and the culture will not change unless the management changes. Layoffs are only a short-term solution.

    Pros

The general working population tries very hard to makes things work in a completely dysfunctional environment. The regular staff are great people working for management that do nothing to support them or assist their efforts to succeed and the executive level staff are too busy fighting turf battles to realize how badly the organization is rotting away from the inside. Very sad.

    Cons

Organization markets all the right sounding ethics, but cannot live by its own values. Management operates under the rigid pecking order popular in the 1950s-1970s. Executive management is clueless and provides no leadership. Micromanagement, covering one's back are necessities. Errors are tracked and documented and will be brought up at review time. Learning from mistakes and moving on won't happen. Mistakes are forever in your record.

    Advice to Management

To save this company from eventual ruin, hire people at the Executive level that know how to run an organization. Clean out the current middle management that is poisoning the professional staff that are trying to make things work and hire managers that understand how to value and manage people.

    Pros

Emblem offers growth, stability and advancement within a company where you will face all types of challenges and welcome them

    Cons

As with every Healthcare company, it is how you interact and how far you want your career to grow with emblem. Put the effort, time and energy in the job and you will reap the awards

    Advice to Management

Management will educate you as much as posiible and send you to training seminars but ultimately if you want to get promoted, it'd on you.

    Pros

Benefits, that's about all I can think of because outside of that, pros are extremely limited

    Cons

Management - very siloed, resistant to change,, promotions are generally based on who you know versus what you know. Now, we were warned that layoffs were inevitable due to the 600+ million that the company lost(due to incompetent senior management in my opinion) none the less were were warned. Well, layoffs have begun, yet treating employees without any regard or compassion is horrible. Employees learning of their termination due to badges not working, people being approached at their desk, told they have 15 mins and escorted out by security, no one knows, who, what, when, nothing, so basically those left on a daily basis have no clue if its their last day. But what we do know is management does know, but not sharing. No way to treat people who were dedicated to helping this company stay afloat. Salary is below average, not to mention your expected to do the job of 2 or more and then told, be thankful you have a job. Telecommuting - so you are giving a laptop BUT only can work from home when it benefits the company, so if it's 30 feet of snow on the ground, don't expect a courtesy to let you work from home, nope, you have to take PTO time or make your way to the office(unless the building actually closes) No concern for employee well being AT ALL, but we are a HEALTH insurance company, preaching "what care feels like" its actually pretty comical. Oh, and that doesn't apply to everyone, some people with "special" agreements get to work from home pretty much whenever they want.

    Advice to Management

Advice would be useless to current management as they are pretty much stuck in their own ways. Advice to senior level management would be to clean house for "some". My fear is that the good ones are being let go, while those who really don't need to be here will remain due to who they know. If that is the case, dont' expect Emblem to become competitive what so ever with the others out there.
