    Pros

This was an interesting place to work, I met great people and had great employers

    Cons

This is a franchise so every store will have a different owner and a different atmosphere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The franchise lacks in training and follow up with individual stores

    I worked at EmbroidMe full-time

    Pros

Small, enjoyable company that has same competitive challenges of a big company. Management and coworkers are friendly, down to earth people who are always ready to help and work as a team. Lots of flexibility with work process without having management constantly looking over your shoulder or bogging you down with unnecessary tasks that don't help you accomplish goals. Time off is great.

    Cons

Pay is insufficient and does not meet the work load that it takes to be successful. Low salary and commission structure creates lack of motivation to go that extra mile. There are no benefits, company car, gas reimbursements, or expense accounts which aid in motivating the employee as well as the customer. Very small training period and not much room for growth as far as promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay structure and add more incentives to employees who have completed training period and is showing a strong work ethic and promise of meeting goals so they continue to be motivated and generating successful business for the company and themselves.

I worked at EmbroidMe full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

you learn to be a jack of all trades. if you want to learn a little bit about how to work with customers, sell retail and knowledge on clothing brands, use an embroidery and iline cad cutting machine and the software essential in making product with each machine to have a finished consumer product it would be a good opportunity.

    Cons

unfortunately this jobs will be working with a franchise that your boss or boss's own. you can expect to work long after hours if need be especially for the holidays due to it being a retail business and you want to be careful that you get payed overtime. I was meant to get a 1 dollar raise each year and never saw that raise which i let slip by on me. be on your toes for what you are worth!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that the people you employee to work at your franchise are trying to make in in this expensive economy. it is true that the minimum wage has not kept up with the price of living ( although i was paid $10/per hour) I still had to watch every penny because i was paying student loans and living alone paying rent. Also my advice to management is to provide your employees with as many skills/training opportunities that you can because trade skills are valuable and you want your employees to have something to leave with after they finished however long they work at your franchise.

I have been working at EmbroidMe full-time

    Pros

Local Franchisee has the flexibility to administer this position from their location. If you enjoy cold calling (in person) with phone follow up then this is for you for this is the EmbroidMe sales model.
Advantage over internet orders is the creativity one has to develop marketing programs for garments and promotional goods at competitive pricing. Large vendor base.

    Cons

Franchisors sales model is outdated (cold call emphasis) and not based upon relationship selling or identifying needs and taget markets. If you are new to sales, you'll need an expansive natural market to make money

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update sales record keeping with newer sales tracking and prompting programs, rather than written 3x5 cards. The sales quoting process takes too long. Decide if the business model is a true retail store or business to business model.

    Pros

lovely people to work with. freedom to work autonomously. interesting promo products to offer clients.local shop is in a nice area.

    Cons

Zero, none, nada training! Franchise has an outdated, unsophisticated(down right hokey)approach, requiring reps to make 35 door-to-door cold calls on businesses. No time spent at all to learn product line. No time spent in store learning the ropes. Not even any kind of quote or estimate worksheet to use at cold calls. No local advertising or marketing done by local owner. No chamber memberships or local community involvement. Sales experience is not enough to get a person started on a positive note. Lots of time and energy and gasoline is spent with little results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Local franshisee needs to get with social media and use a more effective sales approach. Allow reps to take time to develop relationships, not just make calls, get business cards and leave flyers. Update the phone scripts. teach reps to ask more questions rather than rambling off the ridiculous schpeel. Poor pay.Loads of competition! It seems anyone can get a machine and embroider their grandpa's plumbing company apparel. Don't expect instant results from someone when you give them no help or insight. Giving more tools and techniques would shorten the learning curve.

    Pros

Amy doesn't have the ability to do outside sales, nor the personality. Several customers have left because she treated them rudely.

    Cons

Unless you are homeless, don't accept a job here. She has gone through 5 employees in 12 months. SO who do you think the problem is? It can't always be the employees. Those of us that use to work there, have all bettered ourselves with stable employment. Guaranteed they will close by years end.

    Pros

EmbroidMe and United Franchise Group provide a great foundation for building a career. Employees are given autonomous decision making authority once they prove themselves. There is a lot of room for advancement and great learning experience in the fields of marketing, sales, management, etc. Management rewards those who put forth effort and doesn't let good work go unnoticed.

    Cons

Sometimes there become too many processes and effective decision making becomes difficult. They are really good at having meetings about meetings, which in any job, is counter-productive!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less paperwork and reports would improve performance and help employees prioritize more effectively on their primary responsibilities.
