I have been working at Emerson
Pros – All the tools you need to succeed are provided for you. Even though training in may take a long time, management sticks with you and gives feedback a long the way.
Cons – It is a large company. It can take awhile to get to know even the immediate people you are working with.
Advice to Senior Management – I am not sure how management gets anything done with 30-35 hours of meetings per week. They seem as though they could benefit with more time to actually get things done.

I worked at Emerson
Pros – Small town, where they are the largest white collar worker. Salary is decent given it is a small town and the cost of living is cheap. You know pretty much everyone in the company. The local level employees work well together excluding upper management. A good age mix of people working at emerson. Don't need a 4 year degree to work there. The company is relatively stable and has been for years, the customer base has core customers that I have not seen leave. If you don't like to travel you are not required to travel at all. People like to drink a lot if you like that.
Cons – Technologies are old and out dated, working in the job for to long is a dead end for your career. Management has only one selection criteria for promotions, and that's if you are best friends with the manager that is giving the promotion. Lazy people are often shuffled around when they are poor at doing their jobs, they are never ever fired. Don't need a 4 year degree to work there. Quality travel assignments are handed out to those that are liked sales cruises for favorites in engineering, trips to the north slope in Alaska during october/november if you are not a favorite.
Advice to Senior Management – Drop the favoritism, hand out fair raises, give people quality travel assignments, create paths for advancement.
