    Pros

Summer interns and new college graduates are treated well with individualized training and promises..............at first.

    Cons

Soon after graduation, when the interns accept the job offer, they learn that Emerson is a low paying company with broken promises of opportunity and fairness. Raises are low and only the pets that blindly follow their managers self promoting agenda have an opportunity for promotion. Projects are delayed over and over with unclear objectives and management who keep changing their minds. Project meetings are filled with chest thumping idiots trying to make their points heard using ridiculous buzz words.

Management has no leadership qualities and is only concerned with their own little world. Employees spend their day covering their decisions and trying to figure out how to avoid blame from their finger pointing managers and supervisors. HR has implemented a culture of punishment for anyone who brings a negative issue regarding management to them.

Advice to new employees: Learn what you can quickly and move on. Stay too long and your learning curve will flatten out while you wallow in boring projects with back and forth management decisions.

Advice to women and minorities considering Emerson jobs: Don't do it. Very few in the company especially engineering. If you're not a white man, you'll be singled out and treated unfairly. If you go for an interview, take a look around for yourself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to upper management: Stop promoting the meanest back stabbing employees. Open you eyes and ears and understand how badly your employees are treated by their managers and supervisors.

    Pros

It's a relatively stable company if you are able to take the stodgy silo culture and strong matrix organizational structure.

    Cons

Not the best onboarding and training program, and if you can't cut it, despite being ill-equipped, the company will kick you out the door very quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to train your new hires better, get them into the the thick of things more quickly so that they are practicing what they learn, and break down the agonizingly thick silo walls.

    Pros

Average salaries and work hours. If you want just to get a salary without careers expectations that is the right place for you.

    Cons

People trend to be there several years just because do not want to change. Only mediocrity people stay. You need 25 years to get a decent position. If you are a woman never get there, they make you feel completely uncomfortable and will be openly receive comments about your
"presence". It does not matter how good you are or well you do your work, only how much you flatters people. I have been asked to do my boss laundry at a master level!

I worked at Emerson full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The company treats its shareholders and management very well. The company is known for its increasing dividends over the past 50 years. Shareholders like Emerson for its generous dividends. The company's senior management enjoys good stock options.

    Cons

No commitment to employees and customers. The company's culture is extremely anti-family and does not allow spouse to work in the same company. The company does not even have a purpose or mission statement. The company's senior management enjoys long vacations but frowns on analysts taking any vacations. The company does not commit to customers. Rather, the management tries to take advantage of customers in order to earn the highest profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make long-term commitment to the society, not just for the shareholders and senior management.
