I worked at Emerson full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's a relatively stable company if you are able to take the stodgy silo culture and strong matrix organizational structure.

    Cons

Not the best onboarding and training program, and if you can't cut it, despite being ill-equipped, the company will kick you out the door very quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to train your new hires better, get them into the the thick of things more quickly so that they are practicing what they learn, and break down the agonizingly thick silo walls.

    Pros

I really don't have anything good to say about this company.

    Cons

Overworked, underpaid, too little direction, the left foot doesn't know where the right foot is headed.

    Pros

Average salaries and work hours. If you want just to get a salary without careers expectations that is the right place for you.

    Cons

People trend to be there several years just because do not want to change. Only mediocrity people stay. You need 25 years to get a decent position. If you are a woman never get there, they make you feel completely uncomfortable and will be openly receive comments about your
"presence". It does not matter how good you are or well you do your work, only how much you flatters people. I have been asked to do my boss laundry at a master level!

    Pros

The company treats its shareholders and management very well. The company is known for its increasing dividends over the past 50 years. Shareholders like Emerson for its generous dividends. The company's senior management enjoys good stock options.

    Cons

No commitment to employees and customers. The company's culture is extremely anti-family and does not allow spouse to work in the same company. The company does not even have a purpose or mission statement. The company's senior management enjoys long vacations but frowns on analysts taking any vacations. The company does not commit to customers. Rather, the management tries to take advantage of customers in order to earn the highest profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make long-term commitment to the society, not just for the shareholders and senior management.

    Pros

Emerson has good technology especially for field devices

    Cons

Poor relationships with clients, Change-resisting old staffers. Poor work environment, unprofessional middle management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Foster a friendly and professional work culture.

I worked at Emerson full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I gained corporate experience at a large, international company. Emerson never changes, which is a con to me, but a pro to others. They have a gym with a free personal trainer and classes, which was literally the best part about going to work.

    Cons

Sexual harassment from men. Very closed-minded to new ideas. Political. Very black & white, and most employees are "robotic." I learned that the only reason why most people stay there is because it's comfortable/safe, not because they are passionate about what they do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open to new, innovative ideas.
