    Pros

Decent pay and benefits for leadership employees. Generous tuition reimbursement program. Very rarely terminates employees unless company-wide layoffs.

    Cons

Difficult for female and minority employees to get ahead. Emerson prefers Engineers and Attorneys, otherwise difficult to obtain a certain level of respect. Too many dead-weight employees (too much job security). Very old-fashioned organization, change is a difficult concept.

    Advice to Management

Diversify leadership..everyone doesn't have to look and act the same to be efficient.

    Pros

This company is a great place for on the job learning and specialised skills. Good if you are a fresh graduates but not so for the experience employee.

    Cons

-Restrictive or archaic HR policy (eg. poor compensation even for top consistent top performers, horrible salary compression, poor perks)
    - Losing a lot of talent causing poor employee morale and the company to continue to deteriorate

    Advice to Management

The company need to be more progressive and dynamics as it is getting left far behind by the competitors.
Just afraid the company will die of old age if nothing been changed.

    Pros

Very stable company. Do not hire indiscriminately and then fire. Very cautious in adding headcount. Part of very large conglomerate EMR. Not much internal rivalry. Good place to work and retire from. Value long-term employees. Very generous Profit Sharing package -company usually puts in 10% to 15% of your salary (untaxed) to fund your retirement. Job is generally stress-free 9 to 5. Not expected to put in long hours regularly.

    Cons

Some cronyism with so many long-term employees. Salaries slightly below industry average. Sometimes difficult to change status quo.

    Advice to Management

Be open to new ideas. Don't just listen to the people you have know forever.

    Pros

You can do nothing all day and still get nearly the same lousy raise as a co-worker that is a high producer as long as you look busy.

    Cons

ASCO Numatics only seems to hire recent graduates that are desperate for a job, selling them on the company history, market share, and internal promotion policy. They are offered a low starting salary with the opportunity to learn. However, what they don't tell them is the really good engineering work is outsourced to India while the Florham Park facility is used mostly for testing. They have outsourced all manufacturing to countries that pay slave wages.

Once hired, they realize that there is tremendous animosity within the engineering department that goes back many years. This culture of unfairness and backstabbing permeates throughout the organization and undermines productivity. Management is fully aware but do nothing. HR is just there to protect the company from lawsuits and will sell out any non-manager without hesitation.

The longer tenured employees, who are too scared to switch companies, are bitter and have the lowest morale. New employees usually quit or transfer after a few years. They realize that if they don't kiss up to management, and prove to be ruthless backstabbers, they will never be promoted. ASCO will only promote you to management if you show them you have no heart.

The company is well past it's vibrant years of innovation and teamwork that were evident when it was family owned. Now sadly, they secretly buy competitor valves, and reverse engineer them to try and steal market share. Management gives no clear direction but they always demand the product launches as quickly as possible, disregarding product safety and performance.

    Advice to Management

There is no advice to give. This horrible management culture is never going to change without a complete overhaul of the leadership.
